Was Polairs some kind of response to Metallica's Orion?

calstars, Monday, 21 May 2007 21:51 (sixteen years ago) link

not really. '...polaris' was about nuclear war. i'm not even sure what 'orion' was about, given the lack of lyrics.

So Far, so Good... is actually my favorite Megadeth album, and I love Megadeth a lot. I was never bothered by the production or the cover, because the rest of the songs were so damn good. "Holy Wars" is one of my least favorite Megadeth songs, though. Never quite clicked for me.

It certainly does! Excellent production, too.

the shouting men's chorus on 'take no prisoners' kind of sounds like a boisterous night at kiwanis

Rust in Peace is the best Megadeth album by a ludicrous margin.

RiP = MoP
CtD = AJFA

I just noticed that the chains on the side of the head of the dude look kind of like the curly hair style that some Jewish men have. Surely this is just coincidence?

calstars, Friday, 14 August 2015 02:31 (eight years ago) link

i'm always surprised by how "Wacky" megadeth vocals are... reminds me of like, nomeansno

Why does the remaster of Rust In Peace say "remixed and remastered" so prominently? How different is the mix?

Robert Adam Gilmour, Thursday, 3 September 2015 19:10 (eight years ago) link

very. it's super punchy

it sort of makes it sound like a clean and precise modern metal record but it kinda sucks the air from the room imo

Is it significantly worse off for that?

Whatever the case may be, I listened to this version and liked it a lot. Even the bonus track "My Creation" is amazing. He's a much better singer than I expected too.

Surprised Mustaine hasn't been on Joe Rogan.

sorry it took me three years to answer this question but: no, not really, i don’t hate the megadeth remixes even though i prefer how the records originally sounded

jolene club remix (BradNelson), Friday, 15 February 2019 17:09 (five years ago) link

one year passes...

Forgotten to mention Mustaine in the notes saying he wanted to change Marty Friedman's last name because it didn't sound metal enough, then added "Oy vey!"

Robert Adam Gilmour, Sunday, 23 February 2020 16:13 (four years ago) link

lol. was that on the original or a reissue?

☮️ (peace, man), Sunday, 23 February 2020 18:04 (four years ago) link

Reissue

Robert Adam Gilmour, Sunday, 23 February 2020 18:47 (four years ago) link

Never liked the reissue of Rust In Peace. He also changed the words to some songs, since they had to rerecord the vocals since the original vocal tracks were lost or something.
