Rush is nearing total incoherency, I can't even begin to untangle the logic here

“If homosexuality being inborn is what makes it acceptable, why does racism being inborn not make racism acceptable?” the talk show host asked. “I’m sorry — I mean, this is the way my mind works. But apparently now we don’t choose racism, we just are racists. We are born that way. We don’t choose it. So shouldn’t it be acceptable, excuse — this is according to the way the left thinks about things."

Referring to an incident in which a white student was beaten by black students on a bus, Limbaugh said: “I think the guy’s wrong. I think not only it was racism, it was justifiable racism. I mean, that’s the lesson we’re being taught here today. Kid shouldn’t have been on the bus anyway. We need segregated buses — it was invading space and stuff. This is Obama’s America.”

I listened to the linked audio clip. It was incoherent, but I didn't think he was calling for segregated buses. He was mocking Pres. Obama. That is, I thought he was sarcastically saying "In Obama's new America, we ought to have segregated buses, to keep the racist white kids away from the innocent black kids." Now, that's also bats--t crazy, but I got the impression from reading the comments upthread that Limbaugh was saying that white kids need to be on separate buses to protect them from violent black kids. Frankly, I assume he would say something like that. But I didn't hear him say it in the clip.

I keep waiting, apparently in vain, for there to be a 'Face in the Crowd' type moment where some Patricia Neal type character unveils swine like Beck and Limbaugh for the craven, contemptuous, immoral strivers they are. Otoh, maybe they're really that stupid.

I watched a few minutes of that "Bully Gets Bullied" video clip. I was sort of amazed it played out the way it did. Kind of awesome to see the audience's anger intimidate Limbaugh a bit.

I don't take him literally. And as I said, I wouldn't be surprised to hear Limbaugh call for segregated buses, whether he did so overtly or impliedly or by distorting his opponent's views to justify it.

I just didn't hear him do so in that audio clip.

I used to correspond with Howie Klein (pres of Sire and Reprise at different times, I think) when we both posted on some political newsgroups in the late '90s. He looped Limbaugh saying "I'm a Nazi" over a cheesy techno beat for a benefit CD that he sent me - I wonder if I still have it...

I don’t think he himself is actually calling for segregated buses here, I think he’s saying that in “Obama’s America,” we’re supposed to believe it was perfectly okay for Black kids to beat up a White kid, and that probably the White kid shouldn’t even be there. It was more of his hyperbolic “Black people are in charge and are calling all the shots now” rant. It’s more of the expression of “White people, fear for your lives!” panic that illustrates that there’s a lot more discomfort with a Black president (and the symbolic change in race relations) that we might have thought after the outpouring of support at the Inauguration and his first couple of months in office.
