I heard something about me

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 14:59 (eighteen years ago) link

glasgow has been twinned with turin, rostov-on-don, dalian, havana and nuremberg

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 15:00 (eighteen years ago) link

I was told that Rostov-on-Don was the serial killer capital of the world a few years ago. It may since have been overtaken by somewhere else.

Bilbao airport is in Sondika.

Beat that for smarypantsness.

Ez.

there's a job going in the listings section of the metro, yo

I need a job since my redundancy is getting ever more imminent. Does one need experience for this sort of thing? Or even some sort of clue as to what is going on in Glasgow these days? I am a failed student journalist, so am obviously well equipped to write about shit that goes on in Glasgow pubs.

Today, I saw Dahlin's name in a byline in the Metro. I tried, and failed, to impress my kiddies at work by going "that's a friend of mine". Philistines. If I wasn't me, and I knew a top ace reporting journo type, I'd be impressed. Maybe.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 17:16 (eighteen years ago) link

ha! top ace reporting journo type... i spent the day making cinema listings fit on one page. grrr...
no clue how that story got my name on it. and it had mistakes in it too! embarassing. :(
considering the blondes who currently do the job, i doubt it requires much specific experience... there's an ad in today's paper. and there will be another one in thursdays

dahlin (dahlin), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 18:11 (eighteen years ago) link

Pat Lally is running for the Cathcart seat. Glasgow is safe for us all now.

stet (stet), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 18:13 (eighteen years ago) link

We once went to the fireworks in Glasgow and they appeared to be burning an effigy of Pat Lally atop the bonfire. That was fun.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 20:45 (eighteen years ago) link

i know this is a fun thread but...

i take it you guys heard about the sickening (and baffling) attack on Gibson street on monday morning. If any of you live round that area, be careful.

Cathy (Cathy), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 17:37 (eighteen years ago) link

dahlin (dahlin), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 18:01 (eighteen years ago) link

I'll be there between 7-8pm. Should be able to muster some emergency funds before getting paid on Friday. Thought I was ok, but then the bloody phone bill came through. Grrr.

Stew (stew s), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 20:32 (eighteen years ago) link

Yay new job!

I now have the same sort of job I had before, but with more money and less chance of getting made redundant (hopefully!). Start soon as I get out of my old job. I shall be in pub once I've come home, had my tea and recovered from teh hangover of death brought on by hearing about new job and toasting Kenny Miller.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 8 September 2005 06:18 (eighteen years ago) link

top stuff, ailsa: hurrah!

irritatingly, there's now a 50% chance i won't be able to make it tonight (tedious, not worth explaining here). i should know for sure later today. assuming i don't, i would suggest the usual replacement of dragging some bearded, ranting tramp off the street and sticking him in my place.

like i say: i should know for sure later on.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 8 September 2005 08:25 (eighteen years ago) link

I'm going home to ditch the car and have some healthy dinner first, so I should be there around eight.

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 8 September 2005 08:28 (eighteen years ago) link

I might go to the movies first.

Ally C (Ally C), Thursday, 8 September 2005 11:44 (eighteen years ago) link

Is that your job, Ally? Or have you been random googling?

PJ Miller (PJ Miller 68), Thursday, 8 September 2005 11:46 (eighteen years ago) link

The first one.

Ally C (Ally C), Thursday, 8 September 2005 11:46 (eighteen years ago) link

That last one's brilliant, tripping over a hazard warning :-)

PJ Miller (PJ Miller 68), Thursday, 8 September 2005 12:17 (eighteen years ago) link

Perhaps just over-eager.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller 68), Thursday, 8 September 2005 12:18 (eighteen years ago) link
