The South is full of creepy crawly things. Did I ever mention that time I lived in a converted one car garage in Louisiana with my mom and two sisters? and it was FULL of fucking roaches the size of kittens? and how at night we would zip ourselves up in our sleeping bags, including our heads, because otherwise you would wake up with ROACHES ON YOUR FACE. During the night, we'd feel them dropping from the ceiling and hitting our blankets.
I have lots of gross out bug stories, blood sucking bug stories, rodent stories, stepping on slugs in your socks stories, birds trapped in walls stories, snake stories...

ROACHES ON YOUR FACE
I've never been more thankful for freezing winters than I am right now.

Also, good morning. My feet and knees hurt from standing in a parking lot for hours on end the last two days.

Also, there was a dead roach in the foyer outside our apartment door this morning. Awesome.
Note: Knowing full well I would be completely unable to stand for two days without much pain and whining, I did not even pretend to want to go to the T&G thing. The wife of a friend and I decided that we are quite over shows with no seating available.

Things appear a little clearer now, and it seems I will be occupying a smallish slice of your town from Wednesday the 20th, until I fly back to London very early in the morning of Saturday 23rd.
If any of you fancy a pint during that period, that would be aces. Maybe on the Wednesday or Thursday night? I'm housetrained. Relatively.

Whereas not all participants work in the Loop; andWhereas maximum participation is a desirable goal of the Thirsty Thursday Association; andWhereas we should aspire to uphold the democratic principles on which our great nation was founded; I hereby propose the following:
1. We rotate suggestions of meeting places to best accomodate the diverse locations and tastes of our members; and 2. Old Timer's on 75 E. Lake be named the default location for all future meetings should members be unwilling or unable to propose an alternative location; and 3. Members propose location suggestions as they feel moved rather than confine the location suggestions to any order because we're all adults here.

Did I see the sign on The Mutiny correctly? Do they have afternoon karaoke from 3-6 p.m. on a weekday?
I met some people who are part of the open mic night at Quenchers, and I like these people. You, you are Quenchers people - do you know anything about this?

xpost: I had seen a sign advertising the Quenchers open mic, but until I met up with J.B., J.H., J.C. and Kr. there the other weekend I hadn't been in the place for a long time. I expect it's a pretty good time. Also, Quenchers' sign lost its "s," I noticed yesterday. It did not look intentional.

I want a copy.
Oh! Maybe I can download it.
It's grey, rainy and hot here. Before that it was SUNNY and warm, lower humidity. I prefer the grey. As The Swans said, God damn the sun.

All the people are dancingand they're having such funI wish it could happen to me
But if you close the doorI'd never have to see the day again
If you close the doorthe night could last foreverLeave the wine glass outand drink a toast to never
Oh, someday I knowsomeone will look into my eyesAnd say helloyou're my very special one
Dark party bars, shiny Cadillac carsand the people on subways and trainsLooking gray in the rain, as they stand disarrayedoh, but people look well in the dark
And if you close the doorthe night could last foreverLeave the sunshine outand say hello to never
Cause if you close the doorI'd never have to see the day again
