Oh good, the Weird Al/Breaking Bad mashup is here! Colorless green ideas sleep furiously.

On s4 of the re-watch and keep remembering amazing little bits still to come. Like Jesse's dinner with the Whites.

i just wrapped up my re-watch and oh god i should have time it better, how can i possibly wait two weeks??

Fanois och Alexander (Merdeyeux), Tuesday, 30 July 2013 19:11 (ten years ago) link

timedddd.

walt's billy big balls crimelord persona that develops through season 5 is just so hateable, can't wait for hank to waste him.

Fanois och Alexander (Merdeyeux), Tuesday, 30 July 2013 19:14 (ten years ago) link

xp amateur!
I thought I might be a little bored the second time round but it's so story-intensive that I spent a lot of time 1st time wondering what was gonna happen, the mechanics of it all etc. This time I'm enjoying concentrating on the other stuff.
It's mad how from the very start Hank is given a thousand little clues that IT'S WALT but obviously the thought is a long way from his mind.

just finishing up the first half of season 5 -- i love how this season has really amped up the western story aspects of the show -- like the train robbery, the stand off with the other meth dealing crew etc. also loved walter really losing it and how his inzanity affects the rest of his team.

i guess i'd just rather listen to canned heat? (ian), Wednesday, 7 August 2013 21:44 (ten years ago) link

three weeks pass...

The pacing on this show has gotten completely batshit, starting with S5E08 and then all of the last half of S5 so far has been like waaaay too much shit moving the plot along in a v stuffy and cluttered way. Like I feel like I missed 3 or 4 episodes somewhere

mileena cyrax (Stevie D(eux)), Sunday, 1 September 2013 15:48 (ten years ago) link

YO, MAD SPOLERS, BITCH

the fact that Hank finds out abt Walt in the last 30 sec of one episode, and then entirely within the next episode we have Walt realizing Hank knows, and then Hank realizing that Walt knows that he knows, all the cards on the table in the course of 45 min; like where is the buildup and tension and suspense? This is stupid nuts.

mileena cyrax (Stevie D(eux)), Sunday, 1 September 2013 15:51 (ten years ago) link

we discussed this upthread, although many of us were fond of the way that was handled. I personally didn't want the "will Hank discover Heisenberg" trope being something that lorded over the season until like ep 6 or 7, as that's clichéd, though to be honest it is what I expected. I liked that they got it out of the way.

Neanderthal, Sunday, 1 September 2013 15:54 (ten years ago) link

sorry, not this thread, the "Anticipate Season Five" thread.

Neanderthal, Sunday, 1 September 2013 15:55 (ten years ago) link

there's already been like 5.5 seasons of build-up! i love it, it's like ok, now we know that's not going to be the game this season, so what's next?

things that weirded me out
a) that slightly off variation of the theme music + that english song towards the end of the trailer
b) walt's wife smiling and nodding in approval when he beats up those kids making fun of his son

Gilligan: Todd was weirdly likable to me.

Paul: He shot Andrea! And the kid on the bike!

Gilligan: But he didn't mean anything by it.

god, i'd almost completely forgot about todd.

reading that makes me want to watch the whole show over again

I only just got round to finishing season 5 so todd's cheery psycho act is fresh in my mind.

I was just watching an episode of 90s antiques-based drama Lovejoy and there was a long shot with a kidnap victim handover that, if you swapped the rural Somerset landscape for New Mexico, could've been straight out of Breaking Bad.

amazing that this is gonna be a Netflix thing, you could do a wide theatrical release of this couldn't you?

I just learned that the guy who plays Skinny Pete is apparently 50! They wanted to cast an older guy playing a younger guy to show the ravages of meth.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 26 August 2019 20:46 (four years ago) link

i just watched GOOD TIME last night and i was wondering if Jennifer Jason Leigh was supposed to be playing someone her age or much younger, for similar drug ravages-related reasons.

omar little, Monday, 26 August 2019 20:49 (four years ago) link

though she is someone who still seems a good decade or so younger than she really is.

omar little, Monday, 26 August 2019 20:50 (four years ago) link

v much not interested in the latter day struggles of Jesse Pinkman, I have to say. By the end he was more of a totem than a character. Is Skyler gonna get an after-Breaking Bad movie too lol

Οὖτις, Monday, 26 August 2019 20:52 (four years ago) link

me neither but I originally thought basing a show around the sleazy lawyer was a silly idea so what do I know
