The SR video series is entertaining. He only seems to _write in half-formed caps lock metaphors these days but in video form the arguments were engaging whether I agreed or not.

there's definitely a mumblecore lester bangs vibe that can be amusing when he's informing rather than seething

if he honestly wanted to spotlight cool random shit rather than bitch about how stupid other writers are those videos would be dope, but the level of transparent resentment is just so high

like many an ilxor, i have no right to call out anybody who decided/accepted that making a life of profesh music crit was for the birds/not for them, but clearly doesn't have better things to do than gawk and snark from the sideline. but making a series of web vids about how wrong, wrong, wrong everybody is while crowing about how you've got a real deal grade a middle class life while gay-baiting the dude from grizzly bear (and @ing other critics to make sure they know you're doing it) is just...yeesh.

Just watched some of his other videos. Very informative and interesting, tbf. Too bad he cant just stick to that kind of thing.

OTM. Can't imagine that his kids or wife know anything about the recent nonsense, but I am embarrassed for them.

Page views don't seem to be as important a metric for advertisers as they used to be

page views are still the dominant metric only because much better ones (time on site for instance) are still in their infancy
