i'll do a manual backup of the phone before i upgrade, don't anticipate any weirdness

I wouldn't upgrade anything below a 5 for at least a couple weeks but maybe that's just me being cautious

ya if you dont do the new phone when yr contract is up youre getting extra special screwed on yr bill

other option is to take yr phone to one of the low cost carriers

I heard tell of supply issues w/ 5s but really when hasn't that been the case

prolly a couple of FTEs at apple dedicated to spreading those stories prelaunch

there was a story about how the 5c had trouble selling out during preorders, i lol'd because macrumors framed it as 'iphone 5 supplies holding up well' instead of 'nobody, literally nobody wants to buy an iphone 5c'

they're plastic, they can't be that hard to build, right

all the parts except the case are the same as the 5 that theyve been making for a year so it stands to reason there shouldnt be any supply chain issues

Did they do anything tricky like making the processor on a smaller die or giving it a lil bigger battery?

i think the battery is a bit bigger and the logic board might share the same silicon as the 5s

no one knows yet since no one whos gonna rip it apart has one but it seems like its just a 5 in a new case

I'm not sure how the 5C is gonna compete with the 5. same price, same OS, nearly identical specs, but one is made of plastic.

if you want to force an update, backup yr phone, go to settings->general->reset->erase all content and settings, and then set up as a new iphone. once you get through the activation screens the update will start downloading. however this process is not for the faint of heart and I wouldn't recommend it if the idea of losing something you backed up bothers you. I don't keep much stuff on my work phone so I don't mind blowing it all away.

There are a few significant 5c technical upgrades over the 5, including an improved 1.2mp front camera (because we all want better looking selfies) and a chipset that supports more LTE frequencies. In the US, unlocked handsets can now be interchanged between AT&T, Verizon, and I think T-Mobile; Sprint's is still different.
