ugh I thought the friend that posted that Feminist GIF I posted above as a joke, because he's normally a really intelligent guy, but it turns out he was serious. yeech. thankfully one of his friends called him out on it.

Oh, I just saw a belter on a friend-of-a-friend's page:
"You only live once" is literally a false statement. You live everyday, you only die once.

like to imagine a factory of daft 20-somethings staying up until 3 in the morning trying to come up with these life-affirming platitudes.

I don't know why, but it's funnier if no-one follows? Just one sad person yelling out their name to get their Starbucks order. Depends on your sense of humour, I guess.

Spartacus thing would have been a lot better if two centurions had burst through the door and dragged him off to the cuntatorium.

I really liked the art on that interminable comic, but yeah, I'm pretty sure it could have used way less words to explore that theme in a far less trite and annoying manner.
― emil.y, Wednesday, 25 September 2013 14:15 (ten years ago) link
That cartoon was confusing babble. The author was playing with paradox, but very ineptly. Oscar Wilde, now there was a man who could spin a paradox and most all of them could fit into four panels or less.
