steppe and mountains = mongolia? i know the names of two cities there but i'm quite confident it's neither ulan baatar nor erdenet.

That's an interesting guess, Noodle. But it is incorrect.

Hint 1: It's in the Southern Hemisphere.

dharamsala?

India is in the Northern Hemisphere.

Hint 2:

You can see a bit of the architecture and the people.

I'll give one last hint and if no one can guess it, I'll reveal the answer!

cardamon my pic was leh, crimsonhexagon got it right. but sikkim makes sense too.
crimhex, that last picture really has me stumped. hungarian and german(?) flags? southern hemisphere? googling with that (is that allowed?) gives me three places in peru: is it one of Oxapampa, Pozuzo or Villa Rica?

Jibe, Wednesday, 13 November 2013 05:12 (ten years ago) link

Yes.

minaret makes me think Birmingham or something

a strident purist when it comes to band-related shirts (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 13 November 2013 07:35 (ten years ago) link

not cos it's the only mosque in the UK but there's one in the Hagley Road area that's v. similar i think

a strident purist when it comes to band-related shirts (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 13 November 2013 07:37 (ten years ago) link

Yeah if that's not Britain I'll be amazed (and I'd be surprised if it was Scotland tbh). Could easily be Leeds - the tower which I'm assuming is a minaret could easily be one of those Italianate Victorian jobs just south of the town centre.

Bradford was another thought yes
