Hmmm

Wendy Carlos Williams (jjjusten), Sunday, 17 November 2013 04:54 (ten years ago) link

So far better than average, though the bar is awfully low.

Murgatroid, Sunday, 17 November 2013 05:00 (ten years ago) link

Cover songs sketch was pretty ace.

Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Sunday, 17 November 2013 05:00 (ten years ago) link

we've all seen rob ford press conferences and he doesn't have that stupid accent so its bs they gave it to him.

his actual antics are way more outrageous than that sketch

lollercoaster of rove (s.clover), Sunday, 17 November 2013 05:01 (ten years ago) link

Yeah the express yourself gag was pretty awes

Wendy Carlos Williams (jjjusten), Sunday, 17 November 2013 05:02 (ten years ago) link

Wendy Carlos Williams (jjjusten), Sunday, 17 November 2013 05:04 (ten years ago) link

Dead from Gaga/Kellz

Murgatroid, Sunday, 17 November 2013 05:06 (ten years ago) link

le goon (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 17 November 2013 05:10 (ten years ago) link

speech critic is a great bit

lollercoaster of rove (s.clover), Sunday, 17 November 2013 05:18 (ten years ago) link

"mountaintop fish on a hot day"

lollercoaster of rove (s.clover), Sunday, 17 November 2013 05:19 (ten years ago) link

Yeah, speech writer could become my new favorite recurring Weekend Update character

Murgatroid, Sunday, 17 November 2013 05:21 (ten years ago) link

how many speeches are there for him to do though

lollercoaster of rove (s.clover), Sunday, 17 November 2013 05:21 (ten years ago) link

Blockbuster Video thing was awesome.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 17 November 2013 05:41 (ten years ago) link

This has been really good

Wendy Carlos Williams (jjjusten), Sunday, 17 November 2013 05:50 (ten years ago) link

yeah outside of the opener. i liked the acting school one, and this current sketch with aging rockstar is really sharp

lollercoaster of rove (s.clover), Sunday, 17 November 2013 05:57 (ten years ago) link

So did she fire her manager for putting "Applause" in that car commercial

Murgatroid, Sunday, 17 November 2013 05:59 (ten years ago) link

The Ms. Germanotta sketch made me a little sad.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 17 November 2013 06:07 (ten years ago) link

Yeah, she's far too open about her insecurities about being a has-been.

Murgatroid, Sunday, 17 November 2013 06:08 (ten years ago) link

gaga was great. speech critic had me dying. good ep.

balls, Sunday, 17 November 2013 06:08 (ten years ago) link

I had no idea what the cup song was until tonight

imago-er not a show-er (Whiney G. Weingarten), Sunday, 17 November 2013 06:16 (ten years ago) link

Let me get this straight. There's 81 million views on a video with an intro that's over a minute long and has the unwieldy, totally fucking ridiculous title "Cups (Pitch Perfect's "When I'm Gone")"

imago-er not a show-er (Whiney G. Weingarten), Sunday, 17 November 2013 06:26 (ten years ago) link

"You have to see this video! It's a great song called "Cups (Pitch Perfect's "When I'm Gone)." What? Yeah that's the title. No, Pitch Perfect was a movie. Yeah, we saw Taken 2 that week. Anyway, you watching it? I know nothing is happening. Ok, just keep watching. Keep watching. Yeah the intro is like a minute. I don't know why."

Repeat 81 million times

imago-er not a show-er (Whiney G. Weingarten), Sunday, 17 November 2013 06:31 (ten years ago) link

tbf it's not like anyone pays you to keep up w/ this garbage

balls, Sunday, 17 November 2013 06:34 (ten years ago) link

i saw the movie & i didnt even remember that song til i watched the video

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 17 November 2013 06:34 (ten years ago) link

balls, Sunday, 17 November 2013 06:38 (ten years ago) link

IMWOYP pitch perfect / cup song was like a momentous event of 10 months / mightaswellbeyears ago

sleepingbag, Sunday, 17 November 2013 06:39 (ten years ago) link

Wait snl did something with cups

Geoffrey Schweppes (jaymc), Sunday, 17 November 2013 08:02 (ten years ago) link

?

Geoffrey Schweppes (jaymc), Sunday, 17 November 2013 08:02 (ten years ago) link

Rick Ross doing cups was the funniest thing last night.

dan selzer, Sunday, 17 November 2013 14:22 (ten years ago) link

Cups thing was hilarious. My cups happy daughter was cracking up, and she didn't even get the joke. Keenan could barely keep a straight face.

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 17 November 2013 15:06 (ten years ago) link

Gaga/Kelly A+

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 17 November 2013 16:30 (ten years ago) link

Best episode in a long time. Even the hacky skits had great bits (e.g. Kate McKinnon's broccoli baby in the co-op interview sketch... Plus I always get a huge kick out of Pharoah's Kanye)

Walter Galt, Sunday, 17 November 2013 22:32 (ten years ago) link

put the pussy in a sarcophagus

imago-er not a show-er (Whiney G. Weingarten), Sunday, 17 November 2013 22:44 (ten years ago) link

I generally thought it was a pretty bad episode. Weekend Update was the least I've enjoyed it in ages. Gaga was decent, a good performer, not so awkward, but I was really tired of all the meta gaga references/jokes in every skit. I'm surprised everyone here liked this episode that much. I like the Rob Ford/CNN, the Blockbuster video, Vanessa's overacting summer camp actress...

dan selzer, Sunday, 17 November 2013 22:55 (ten years ago) link

this episode was terrible

le goon (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 17 November 2013 22:56 (ten years ago) link

seth had one good joke but i forget what it was

le goon (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 17 November 2013 22:56 (ten years ago) link

Kate McKinnon's broccoli baby in the co-op interview sketch

I love when she just goes absurd.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 17 November 2013 23:00 (ten years ago) link

She's so good. Even her silent kris kardashian was somehow brilliant.

dan selzer, Sunday, 17 November 2013 23:01 (ten years ago) link

Yeah. Def one of the better shows this season. Don't understand the negative responses.

Statham. Versus. Franco. (Sufjan Grafton), Sunday, 17 November 2013 23:04 (ten years ago) link

I think that getting meta with the host is part of the SNL fun. I can see that the weekend update jokes may have been weaker, but I was dying at the failed speech writer and outraged senior guests

Statham. Versus. Franco. (Sufjan Grafton), Sunday, 17 November 2013 23:09 (ten years ago) link

And Gaga/Kells both sound immaculate live. So I guess we can stop cutting artists slack for terrible SNL sound

Statham. Versus. Franco. (Sufjan Grafton), Sunday, 17 November 2013 23:10 (ten years ago) link

oh yeah, I loved speech writer bit. But too much meta. nonstop meta.

dan selzer, Sunday, 17 November 2013 23:14 (ten years ago) link

Gagas clothes comment on the ye bit. Her Madonna 'cover'. Her old forgotten starlet sketch.

Statham. Versus. Franco. (Sufjan Grafton), Sunday, 17 November 2013 23:20 (ten years ago) link

First two are a bit groany. The last is permissible use of guest IMO.

Statham. Versus. Franco. (Sufjan Grafton), Sunday, 17 November 2013 23:20 (ten years ago) link

I didn't think it was much better or worse than any other episode this season, with the exception of Kerry Washington's episode (it reached a level of bad I'm not sure they can surpass). Gaga's good in sketches, though. If she wasn't a musician, she'd probably be at Second City or something.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 18 November 2013 01:01 (ten years ago) link

i loved her Training Day speech in the theater camp sketch

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 18 November 2013 01:06 (ten years ago) link

Kate McKinnon's broccoli baby

yea lol'd @ this, also the last rose zone thing was p ok, just all hot garbage reality clips is otm x100

johnny crunch, Monday, 18 November 2013 01:12 (ten years ago) link

had the weirdest feeling there's a bill simmons email somewhere at the root of that thing

balls, Monday, 18 November 2013 01:13 (ten years ago) link

Gaga was decent, a good performer, not so awkward, but I was really tired of all the meta gaga references/jokes in every skit. I'm surprised everyone here liked this episode that much.

Same here. Also the meta stuff was kind of lame, but the mugging for the camera when they did it was just obnoxious.

Mr. Wristington, you're trying to seduce me. (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Monday, 18 November 2013 02:38 (ten years ago) link
