ok i spent too long looking for somewhere in colombia or venezuela and then cheated & wow i was so far off

i used to live with someone from [this place] and it seems kind of funny looking at photos that he was so into mountain biking

I correctly guessed it was someplace very hot (white vans) and went through a number of countries on the correct continent before succumbing and cheating. Good one clouds

This is the most astoundingly fun game I can think of. I can spend hours coming through skyline photos looking for similarities and differences and stuff like mountains in the background. BTW nobody has posted a guess/solution for clouds' last one? Should I give it away?

blaaaaargh I got it but it took me forever

1. Spotted the language in the picture
2. Tried to read the english script, googled "yamashiwa"?
3. Tried to place the blue logo, lotta googling
4. Sorted through endless skyline photos and actually ruled out the correct city once before coming back around to it by accident
5. Speculated that this photo was perversely taken from a famous landmark but I can't tell

there is one famous landmark in this city that would certainly give it away

I was in the wrong country, but the right general... part of this continent. Went through at least a dozen cities in that country before deciding to look through cities that would have similar rooftops. Then I got sidetracked because this city, if you look at it from any other angle, has a bunch of buildings that don't appear in this photo.
