In the summer my hair runs toward strawberry blonde, in the winter just fuckin' red (more on the orange end of the spectrum than flaming red I guess?), my beard is red year round.
No freckles, daywalker etc. etc..

I've never had a ginger identity but I have had a ginger.

When vanity drives me to dye, I'm always disappointed that it fades to reddish brown, rather than my native charcoal.

I dance regularly with a ginger haired matron. The sun was not kind to that bright candle.

I thought palimpsest came from using vellum as a writing surface. & people reusing old pages by scraping the surface with a knife. If this wasn't done thoroughly enough some of the previous writing would remain faintly visible.

this is correct

i have ginger in my genes and self-identify as part-ginge, it varies depending on seasonal variation and onset of greyness, i think it is an awesome ingredient in a broader follicolour palette

also i sported a considerable "Mallen streak" at some point in my early teens

I'm dark of hair, but the closer to the centre of my face, the more ginger my beard gets. I do like it when it catches the sun sometimes and an amber glint strikes out.

Yeah thats good

Is it a beard tint very often? Seems to me it is. Counting beards 3/4 of us and dad have a tinge, counting only hair then it's just one. I smell a doctorate.

my facial hair definitely gingers out more than my head hair but that cd be because it's less mixed with other colours

wee knights of the round table (Noodle Vague), Monday, 16 December 2013 09:11 (ten years ago) link

my dad's dark brown hair started turning reddish instead of turning gray. mine appears to be doing the same thing.

this means you are a cat iirc

It is a bit hard to hide my ginger identity*. Strangely none of my family have even ginger streaks, though I'm told my great-aunt was ginger, but I only knew her as grey. Fairly sure I'm not the postman's as I have inherited plenty of other features from my father's side of the family - mainly ones I wish I hadn't.

(* though I have known some very convincing ginger-hiders, so maybe I've just never tried hard enough)

Straight red hair dyed black is the worst - when the roots grow out they're basically invisible, you end up with a parting that looks like Gervinho's.

A red-blond mix works well though, I'm thinking Young Americans Bowie in particular.

Obv, our eldest daughter Amber.

My beard (during longer summers, and probably not so much now in my salt-and-pepper days of early thirty, had a fair rusty slash from ear to chin, running through ash blond to grizzly brown.

ditto

And ditto again. My dad once tried growing a moustache and it turned out ginger, so he never did that again, obviously.

Heh the worst possible outcome

Bigsam: flotsam and jetsam @ whetsam? (darraghmac), Monday, 16 December 2013 10:35 (ten years ago) link

I have some ginger stubble on my chin but that's about it. I also have a fair amount of freckles and get sunburnt pretty easily which is probably secret gingerness. I suspect this comes from my paternal grandmother whose father was from Tipperary (not sure about her mother, she could've been Irish too or he could've met her after he moved to England, dunno really - all I know about them is they disowned her to some extent after she married my grandfather (who was a protestant)).

Just noise and screaming and no musical value at all. (Colonel Poo), Monday, 16 December 2013 10:42 (ten years ago) link

Not been blessed with any ginger; afaict the main physical manifestation of my Celtic blood is an increasingly ruddy complexion, which decidedly does not complement my otherwise dark features :-(

(admittedly constant dehydration may also be a factor)

I have grey in my hair, though none in beard or body hair. I think gingers are pretty hot tbh & I reckon I would enjoy being one, though I acknowledge that I leave myself open to accusations of ginger tourism by saying so.
