lol never thought that was in question, but thanks!

Definitely coming around to the church of Daken, my lvl 47 is tearing it up
― Nhex, Thursday, 19 December 2013 14:23 (ten years ago) link
have been leveling mine up too, based on this thread
though my wolvie is also tearing it up, rarely comes out of a battle with any hp gone, have gotten my way into the top 3 in the no holds barred tourney without going nuts on health packs or boosts, just pumping away with wolvie + either thor or model 40 + classic storm. a couple of feral claws (each wolvie strike tile now boosts damage by like 53 or so) & even dumb pink tiles are doing 200+
― Euler, Thursday, 19 December 2013 14:39 (ten years ago) link
I find that combining IM40 with my wolvie 5/5/3 is a nice new development, because I can collect yellow for recharges and get those red attacks off without too much disruption of all of my red attack tiles. Occasionally break red tiles when they're Daken attack tiles (mine usually) and replace them with newer, better wolvie ones when possible. Have been consistently getting 600+ match 3s near the end of long matches.
― I've Seen rRootage (Will M.), Thursday, 19 December 2013 15:19 (ten years ago) link
yes, and the model 40 rechange also pumps blue which helps classic storm with those nasty wind storms. or iron man's blue attack (which I got another cover for last night!)
― Euler, Thursday, 19 December 2013 15:21 (ten years ago) link
I literally did not know it pumped blue until you said that. Haha. Is that a later skill thing? My IM40 is still 4/0/1.
― I've Seen rRootage (Will M.), Thursday, 19 December 2013 15:26 (ten years ago) link
yeah maybe you get it with two covers? mine is 5-2-2
oh man at recharge 3 you also restore 2 green; will be even more tops with wolvie
― Euler, Thursday, 19 December 2013 15:28 (ten years ago) link
yup, that Recharge ability is incredibly nice
― Nhex, Thursday, 19 December 2013 15:31 (ten years ago) link
At first I assumed I just didn't notice the blue recharge because I never had guys with blue powers out, but needing to level up makes more sense.
Can't wait to get some more Magnow bits, he's only like 1/1/0 (or 1/1, is he 2 power? I assume not) and he seems interesting. Even brought him at level 8 to some tough fights for that awesome blue power.
― I've Seen rRootage (Will M.), Thursday, 19 December 2013 15:41 (ten years ago) link
Also saw "Kingfish3of3" one rank above me last night in no hold barred, good to know that A) other ILXors representing (i assume) and B) someone is apparently THREE TIMES MORE addicted than I am
― I've Seen rRootage (Will M.), Thursday, 19 December 2013 15:42 (ten years ago) link
wow, my A team just got flambéed by a modern storm / black widow combo (plus a model 35 but he didn't do much)
― Euler, Thursday, 19 December 2013 15:44 (ten years ago) link
modern black widow, I should add
― Euler, Thursday, 19 December 2013 15:45 (ten years ago) link
i have magnow at level 40 5/4/2; he's fun to play with. Purple attack hits for 400 or so and sets up and instant blue attack.
i am finding classic storms at level 70 or so to be monsters with that blue attack... one hit that takes 1500 on every team member? sheeeeesh.
― Strangers look on with a discernible, barely contained ‘wow’. (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 19 December 2013 15:52 (ten years ago) link
yeah my classic storm is at l49 and does 813 on all 3 PLUS a three turn stun.
― Euler, Thursday, 19 December 2013 15:55 (ten years ago) link
<3 that ability so much, the only thing really that made her worth maxing out
― Nhex, Thursday, 19 December 2013 16:09 (ten years ago) link
Typical strat with a classic storm/thor combo for me now isA) if max level, skipB) if less than 20 pvp points, skipC) otherwise, ramp up dmg on thor, relenting only when red builds up to rage kill storm in one shot, hope he doesn't get a chance to pop, uh, any of his stupid goddamn powers
― I've Seen rRootage (Will M.), Thursday, 19 December 2013 16:10 (ten years ago) link
otm
getting that way with raggie too; such a pain when he's cycling red + green blasts
― Euler, Thursday, 19 December 2013 16:13 (ten years ago) link
somehow my ipad has mostly characters that all use the same tile colors, worst strategy ever
― mh, Thursday, 19 December 2013 17:51 (ten years ago) link
one match away from beating a dude, getting to 600 in no holds, battery dies, counts as a forfeit, and i get beat up by someone with like 0 points by the time i recharge phone.
― I've Seen rRootage (Will M.), Thursday, 19 December 2013 20:39 (ten years ago) link
just got taken down by a m.storm / m. black widow combo each with only ~100 hp left and both totally weak. they got my team in a loop with sting / mistress of the elements / lightning strike / hailstorm and repeat that went on for like 30 turns without me getting a hit in.
I was laughing at you before, now I'm laughing with you. ._.
― Matt Groening's Cousin (Leee), Thursday, 19 December 2013 21:22 (ten years ago) link
Modern Storm/Modern Black Widow loop described can get REALLY nasty

I need punisher for one of these. Where was it??
― Jeff, Friday, 20 December 2013 01:41 (ten years ago) link
Hey, they gave Black Widow (Original) a new passive power
― Nhex, Friday, 20 December 2013 01:44 (ten years ago) link
WANT PUNISHER
not sure about Hulk yet; seems like a harder-to-play Juggernaut
― Euler, Friday, 20 December 2013 03:17 (ten years ago) link
actually he seems way better - his passive ability creates green tiles, his green ability does more damage per opponent's green AP stored up, and the red ability does more damage per green tiles on the field (like Moonstone's red), so Hulk wins out except where the opponent is snatching up all the green and using it immediately (notably, Wolverine)
― Nhex, Friday, 20 December 2013 04:03 (ten years ago) link
Punisher close-up face is hilariously awful-looking
― Nhex, Friday, 20 December 2013 04:08 (ten years ago) link
ok I'm sold
loving my buffed Wolvie in this thing. like 2700 per red slash, healing closeish to 300 per turn. I'm doing like 800 an attack on tile matches by the end
― Euler, Friday, 20 December 2013 04:53 (ten years ago) link
Huh, you can only do the Hulk missions 2 or 3 times now before you no longer gain points for them. I'll probably grind them out for the rewards, but you get so few points, I wonder how you're supposed to climb the ladder on these. I assume there'll be more missions coming over the week.
― Nhex, Friday, 20 December 2013 04:55 (ten years ago) link
the 3 l160 sniper mission is BRUTAL. 6 turn countdown to do like 7000 damage. I was downed.
― Euler, Friday, 20 December 2013 04:59 (ten years ago) link
Bag-Man Spider-Man rules all, my friend.
― Nhex, Friday, 20 December 2013 05:17 (ten years ago) link
i swear i take one day off from this...
― Strangers look on with a discernible, barely contained ‘wow’. (forksclovetofu), Friday, 20 December 2013 05:36 (ten years ago) link
Oh I think I get it now. You can have multiple people tied for #1 on the leaderboards for the Hulk boards; there's a clear, finite number of points you can get, and you hit #1. The reward is two special tokens; should be the easiest way to get Punisher and Hulk cards.
― Nhex, Friday, 20 December 2013 05:44 (ten years ago) link
i GREATLY prefer that method. there's a specific way to win and it rewards grinding.
― Strangers look on with a discernible, barely contained ‘wow’. (forksclovetofu), Friday, 20 December 2013 06:06 (ten years ago) link
i have come around to the idea that the right way to play this is to level when the long term bonuses are good. So wolvie is gonna get a major boost in the next week. Here's this week's lineup:
thor - lv 85 max - 5/4/4 maxdaken - lv 69 - 5/5 maxiron man 40 - lv 51 - 4/2/2iron man 35 - lv 50 max - 5/4/4 maxstorm modern - lv 50 max- 5/5/3 maxmagneto NOW - lv 42 - 5/4/2black widow modern -lv 40 max - 5/5 maxjuggernaut - lv 40 max - 5/5 maxmod hawk - lv 35 - 5/5/3 maxwolverine astonishing - lv 32 - 5/4/2ragnarok - lv 28 - 1 green, 2 redcap murrica - lv 27 - 4/4/5 maxstorm classic - lv 25 - 5/5/3 maxDoom - lv 25 - 2 blackhood - lv 25 - 2 yellowbullseye - lv 21 - 5 black, 1 purplespider man classic - lv 18 - 1 yellow, 1 bluepunisher - lv 18 - 1 green, 1 redvenom - lv 16 - 5/5 maxhawkeye - lv 15 - 5/5 maxmoonstone - lv 15 - 5/1/4black widow grey suit - lv 15 - 3 purpleloki - lv 15 - 1 blackblack widow original - lv 8 - 1/3/1spiderman bagman - lv 6 - 3 purple, 1 blueyelena - lv 1 - 5/5 max
5 open spots, looking forward to an invisible woman and hulk in a week. kinda pissed that i accidentally spent 300 coins on a heroic cover purely on accident.
― Strangers look on with a discernible, barely contained ‘wow’. (forksclovetofu), Friday, 20 December 2013 06:15 (ten years ago) link
just maxed out nevada without difficulty. canada is not going to be doable, even with a great team.
― Strangers look on with a discernible, barely contained ‘wow’. (forksclovetofu), Friday, 20 December 2013 06:51 (ten years ago) link
not true -- i just did canada and if i can, you can. the only mission that gave me trouble was the snipers one, where i lost one hero per fight. damage boosts helped a bunch there. doing wolvie, cap, spidey
― lollercoaster of rove (s.clover), Friday, 20 December 2013 07:07 (ten years ago) link
um, if i maxed out nevada and was just at #1, how come i'm now at #5?
― Strangers look on with a discernible, barely contained ‘wow’. (forksclovetofu), Friday, 20 December 2013 07:10 (ten years ago) link
and yeah, i just beat all the canada scenes once. i guess it is beatable but it's gonna eat up all my health packs.
― Strangers look on with a discernible, barely contained ‘wow’. (forksclovetofu), Friday, 20 December 2013 07:14 (ten years ago) link
plus it looks like there's some arcane system at work to determine where the placement comes when everyone's at #1. I sincerely hope they just give EVERYONE the #1 spot who maxes out the rewards; very lame otherwise.
― Strangers look on with a discernible, barely contained ‘wow’. (forksclovetofu), Friday, 20 December 2013 07:22 (ten years ago) link
what tripped you up in Canada? the sniper mission?
― Nhex, Friday, 20 December 2013 13:29 (ten years ago) link
points are regenning on missions now, just slowly.
― lollercoaster of rove (s.clover), Friday, 20 December 2013 14:09 (ten years ago) link
yup, you're right. REALLY slowly - some of the missions I maxed out last night are still coming up empty
― Nhex, Friday, 20 December 2013 14:38 (ten years ago) link
recommend using the +20% damage against Canadians
― mh, Friday, 20 December 2013 15:27 (ten years ago) link
in canada i was mostly scared off by levels but also yes, snipers. it also took until the end of the hulk conflicts for me to realize thor's attacks should be saved for one lengthy megabarrage as hulk has that passive "create three green when hit for 5% of health" bonus.
am now in the 40's on both missions. No regen of any mission points anywhere! Kinda frustrating.

okay, from the d3 forums:
ZzzWolph wrote:Confirming its 12 hrs to regenIt's 12 hours from when you first start playing a levelI started late, and mine haven't reset yet...Because the sub events run 24 hours you can do two runs. you should do the first as soon as possible and the second as late as possible to be on the safe side ^^MommsonSince rubberbanding doesn't seem to be occurring in the sub events, it seems like the thing to do is to hold off on the main event missions, but not so much that you miss any sub events. That probably means doing them about 11 hours after they appear and blowing through the sub events immediately to get a refresh on them. Early birds won't get a chance to compete until new main events show up.In the end, like other rubberbanding events, it'll be part crapshoot, part grinding, and part irritatingly cautious timing that wins the top ranks, not any measure of skill. But hey, big ISO event rewards are back!
