I've unfriended three people in the last 12 hours on FB, two for posting dumb WHY AREN'T WE ALLOWED TO SAY MERRY CHRISTMAS? bullshit, and one for posting DUCK DYNASTY FREE SPEECH STAND WITH PHIL YOLO bullshit. I don't have time in my life to be even internet-friends with people that dumb, not even if I've known them for nearly 40 years.

I find this one a little confusing

It's easier to understand if you keep in mind that conservatives are, broadly speaking, morons.

I guess I'm just wondering what "fast and furious" means in this context?

frogbs, Friday, 20 December 2013 15:28 (ten years ago) link

Fast and furious = (non-)scandal that only certain republicans care about

What are the hidden messages in The Matrix and V for Vendetta?

That everything is for the best and the government and institutions are doing a difficult job the best they can?

UK Cop Humour (Bananaman Begins), Sunday, 22 December 2013 03:34 (ten years ago) link

Seeing all those movies in one place and put under those headings has really clarified a lot for me – there's a whole aesthetic right there, Matrix + Hunger Games + etc + conspiracy theories

cardamon, Sunday, 22 December 2013 18:31 (ten years ago) link

Pretty sure that the thing "self-educated" people take away from Godfather III is that the Mafia controls the Vatican or vis-versa or whatever.... Jesuits!!!

I thought there was some internal way the USPS dealt with letters to God/Santa/etc... This sounds like a rogue mailman! Or possibly, now hear me out on this one cause it's a little crazy, that last part *didn't happen*!

Viceroy, Saturday, 4 January 2014 20:22 (ten years ago) link

It's on Snopes too. http://www.snopes.com/glurge/abbey.asp

I like how the macro version details all of the mailman's objections and doesn't bother to refute them.
