I met some people who are part of the open mic night at Quenchers, and I like these people. You, you are Quenchers people - do you know anything about this?

xpost: I had seen a sign advertising the Quenchers open mic, but until I met up with J.B., J.H., J.C. and Kr. there the other weekend I hadn't been in the place for a long time. I expect it's a pretty good time. Also, Quenchers' sign lost its "s," I noticed yesterday. It did not look intentional.

it would be different if people were quoting something unavoidably familiar like metallica, edgar allen poe, or a hymn. but they are lyrics from songs that are not part of collective knowledge.

sort of. but even for them, do you have to say "landmine?" i think that is not helpful. it robs the words of potential as allegory or metaphor. it's like saying,
