I wonder if the ratings are any better for this episode. I was like jumping up and down, I was so excited that it was back on the air.
I still am not fond of Kevin but he behaved better this week. That singer! Ouch! Can we not have any more goth-lolita-gone-bad business ever again? Jay's outfit was the best by a mile, minus that awful skirt thing.

The three in turn selected their team members in a classic, wincingly painful process that all of us who were the last to be selected for softball remember all too well. (I certainly do!)
when I saw that pile of shredded fabric that would become the removable skirt, it looked like puke from Pee Wee's Playhouse and I thought, "uh-oh…", but they transformed it into something truly fabulous.
Believe me when I say that this industry responds to more garbage and bull*#!@, simply because the individual pitching the work is so passionate and artful in how the bull*#!@ is presented.

Austin is costumey and doesn't listen. I didn't think he had such a limited range but that was probably because the first dress was cornhusks. He's kind of doing the same thing every week and getting away with it (usually) because it is beautiful, and others have really fucked up.
I still don't know if Rob is super talented or what his style is. I think he's one of the few contestants who might be a real surprise, while with most, you kind of know what they'll do..

kevin - mistakes all around, first one being MORGAN. [why havent all of the designers put their competitiveness aside for a second, to collectively decide to oust her?] the second was designing a suit that didnt even seem like a suit. the third was letting morgan leave the party in his outfit.
alexandra - finally, stuck on the nail of her own unoriginality. it seems like she would be useful in the upcoming episode though because she's solid, no-nonsense worker.
jay - his suit was awesome but i hope he takes the comment about appearing more "serious" for the next challenge.

I didn't like Austin's suit. It made me want to barf, and so does his personality at this point. Jay rules it, but he does tend to undercut himself while Austin seems able to thoroughly inhabit the world of his own, uh, bullshit.
Rob is a peculiar personality indeed. I didn't love his suit but it wasn't terrible.

i think being a two-faced bitch ranks pretty high in my book. for a while, i was into her but after all her "this is my last chance" speeches and stuff, i dont think she has what it takes to win.

Maybe I'm indulging my contrarian impulses here; I was reading the Television Without Pity board on Project Runway and there are all these smug women ripping "the Pepper" up one side and down the other for being bitchy, frumpy, and overweight - all while these same people are being incredibly bitchy themselves and complaining that Banana Republic doesn't make plus sizes (ie larger than a 16!).

I'm just catching up on this show after watching a marathon of reruns the other night, but now it's my favorite show ever.
I'm wondering how much influence the producers have in who gets the boot. There's a blurb about that in the credits. Do the Weinsteins really make the choices? I'm guessing they'll keep the 2 flamboyant guys to the end for their TV appeal.
That one who compared women to sports cars is not a very good designer and not all that TVgenic. I'm surprised he hasn't gone yet.

i dont care if she's frumpy or overweight [hey, i am too]. i just have issues with the two-faced behavior of hers. i would not be surprised if she started in with kara. ive dealt with this type of person numerous times through art school and beyond. somewhere down the line, they screw themselves over.
ive found wendy's work to be fairly uninteresting throughout the series. her only win was uncaptivating [yet its inherent boringness was perfect for the banana republic line] and with each challenge, she does something wrong.
i am very surprised she was not eliminated last night -- a missing part on a swimsuit is a huge error. in my experience as a freelance graphic designer / photographer, omitting something clearly integral to the project would cost me my job.
also, for someone who's incoming portfolio appeared to be nothing but formalwear, i was totally non-plussed by her wedding gown. tim was 100% correct in his assessment of her inability to work with asymmetry.

Austin is gross, his Yves Saint Laurent impression was off-putting from the start. I'm surprised noone called him out on that, I mean the glasses and the hair....c'mon, it's so obvious who he's imitating! And his clothes are a bit too costumey.....love his makeup though.

Vanessa Riley interview! http://www.popgurls.com/article_show.php3?id=529
And yeah, OK, Austin is talented, but the clothes make me want to barf. For me, Austin Scarlett is kind of like the Amélie movie - all these people are like "oohlala! I just love love love my happy fairy tale with the pretty foofy princess!" and I'm like "OMG THIS IS TEH SUCK" and then people hate me.

Tim on Austin: Little Lord Fauntleroy 2005
Hahaha. I wish they hadn't ditched Rob. He makes me laugh, dammit! Oh well. "Reality" TV. Wendy's outfit was teh suck. Don't get me wrong, Austin's and Robert's were plenty lame too, but not as lame.
