Ian McCulloch beat David Gray to qualify for the 2003 World Championship in a clash between players who share their names with musicians, and later progressed to the quarter-finals where he lost to Ronnie O'Sullivan

Wrong wrong wrong! Dave Matthews-lite (if you can imagine!).

Actually there was another Dave, or David, Matthews, an arranger who worked with James Brown and all kinds of other people.

I have received email intended for a dude in a symphony orchestra.

I should probably steal the music contained within.

Oddly, there is no wrong Tony Williams. All are equally awesome.

The great Sonny Boy Williamson (who also recorded and/or performed live with the Hawks, Animals, Yardbirds etc) was actually Rice Miller, but hard to imagine he wasn't worthy of the previous SBW's mantle and monicker, though I've never heard much of the earlier guy. As well as Robert Palmer the singer and Robert Palmer the critic (also a musician, with Insect Trust and Ornette Coleman, for inst), there is or was a guitarist of that name; also a guitarist named Paul Williams, along with Paul Williams the early rock critic and Paul Williams the tiny songwriter (of Three Dog Night's "Just Another Love Song" and other early 70s hits I'd rather not remember)Never forget John McLaughlin, the louder-than-Mahahvishnu leader of the McLauglin Group of PBS pundits.

When I worked at Musicland in high school, a woman came into the store looking for a record by Nancy Wilson, and so of course I led her to our selection of Heart CDs.

Bill Hicks? From the Red Clay Ramblers? Hey, I love the comedian, but, fuck, the Red Clay Ramblers are like the Beatles to me. Plus, Bill Hicks played the fiddle on their best stuff. Check out "Chuckin' the Frizz" or "Merchant's Lunch".We're talking class A fiddlin' here, folks. It's good tp see his picture on ILX. About fuckin' time, I say.

Wayne Kramer directed the film The Cooler where William H Macy plays a jinx hired by a Las vegas casino to break players winning streaks. I thought it was a really suitable story for the guitar player from the MC5 to have written as a break from his guitar playing activity.
But this guy's South African

Despite being only 20 years old, David J has been singing, songwriting and performing for nearly a decade. When he was a kid growing up in Rotterdam, New York, he had aspirations of joining the NFL and was quarterback at his sports-focused schools. But another teenage phenom inspired a swift, decisive shift in passion: Justin Bieber’s documentary concert film “Never Say Never.”
