I got the last OBW cover I needed from a standard token today. (Also a bunch of single-* garbage.)

I also caved and bought the starter pack off of steam -- $3 and change for 600 Hero Points.

ha, I never read any of the dialog. next next next.

Jeff, Friday, 24 January 2014 19:04 (ten years ago) link

I usually read it to laugh at how terrible it is but that's next-level

Me too, but it looks like I'm missing out on some lolz.

i really wanted nick to be like "Seriously? WTF is wrong with you Tony?" but he was simply "No can do, we gotta take this the right way"

same reaction here

then I nuked the maggia and forgot about it

oh man new content is tempting but i really really enjoyed sitting out the ares tourney mainly and having a life back.

(and by "life back" i mean time to think about math)

OBW finally at max. I guess I should work on rag next?

Jeff, Friday, 24 January 2014 22:14 (ten years ago) link

bear in mind his recent nerf

i emailed D3P about my daily resupply issue, got a generic "we're looking into it" response

Nhex, Friday, 24 January 2014 22:29 (ten years ago) link

Maybe I'll just max a storm. But maybe it's time I commit to a 3 star.

Jeff, Saturday, 25 January 2014 00:13 (ten years ago) link

i'm pushing punisher to 50 for sure on this goround

this harmless group of nerds and the women that love them (forksclovetofu), Saturday, 25 January 2014 02:59 (ten years ago) link

What's your planned Punisher build? 5 red obviously but I'm not sure between black and green.

Nhex, Saturday, 25 January 2014 03:41 (ten years ago) link

went 5 black on the assumption i'd pair him with a strike tile generator. when i've had to play him without wolvie, really wish it was 5 green.

lollercoaster of rove (s.clover), Saturday, 25 January 2014 03:46 (ten years ago) link

i kinda see the negatives more than the positives of both options
black - mass attack seems negligible and the generator is too slow to be that great
green - random board blow ups ruin any strategy with tile-based teammates, strike tile isn't that strong

Nhex, Saturday, 25 January 2014 04:07 (ten years ago) link

the level 5 generator goes down to one turn, so its way more reliable. and strike tiles really boost the mass attack.

lollercoaster of rove (s.clover), Saturday, 25 January 2014 04:08 (ten years ago) link

I know I'm way behind you guys but I am quite pleased that I just got three OBW covers and can take mine to 30 now

mh, Saturday, 25 January 2014 05:06 (ten years ago) link

Nice, mh.

I got my ~first~ Rag cover, ever, from a Divine Champs draw. Had to sell my fully leveled Jugs, will miss that big lug. ~tear~

Neil Nosepicker (Leee), Saturday, 25 January 2014 05:17 (ten years ago) link

Somehow I redeemed a Heroic token and got Invisible Woman? first four star for me, but I have no idea how I'll get more covers or level her.

mh, Saturday, 25 January 2014 05:19 (ten years ago) link

Eventually you'll come in first in an event, duh!

Neil Nosepicker (Leee), Saturday, 25 January 2014 05:30 (ten years ago) link

Last-minute rush placed me perfectly to get 3 OBW covers from the tourney. Happy. Wonder if it's better to build her 3/5/5, or 4/4/5? (I already have 5 black covers.)

Millsner, Saturday, 25 January 2014 06:46 (ten years ago) link

Aggressive Recon (Purple) is decent, but to me the real money's in Anti-Gravity Device (Blue) for the healing + countdown delay abilities. I ended up going 4/5/4 (Purple/Blue/Black) as the covers came to me. You may consider going 3/5/5 with either, as the level 5 versions of Purple and Blue are much better than 3 or 4.

Nhex, Saturday, 25 January 2014 07:13 (ten years ago) link

I got my first Rag and **** Wolverine covers from heroic tokens. woo. I just need Classic Magneto, Patch and Invisible Woman now. Oh and Daredevil, I guess.

I went 3/5/5 with OBW and I think that's the best build. Aggressive Recon levels raise the AP cost, and I think the lower levels are actually a bit better, since you can get to 6-8 AP sooner and more often.

zanarkand bozo (abanana), Saturday, 25 January 2014 14:12 (ten years ago) link

Agreed on the 3/5/5 build

this harmless group of nerds and the women that love them (forksclovetofu), Saturday, 25 January 2014 14:23 (ten years ago) link

I did 4/5/4 before I realized such things matter. Life is full of regret.

So, the rubberbanding missions are kind of broken. Just retreat or have characters die and they become easier. When you can use the super-powered Patch, you don't even need any other characters to win.

zanarkand bozo (abanana), Saturday, 25 January 2014 20:09 (ten years ago) link

i was wondering if i was going nuts. the Deadly/Impossible missions ARE changing difficulty before my eyes

Nhex, Saturday, 25 January 2014 22:05 (ten years ago) link

Yeah, that's annoying. THe one thing I liked about the missions was that I would have a string of at least 5 to 7 that I could just pound through and get a lot of iso.

Jeff, Saturday, 25 January 2014 22:08 (ten years ago) link

Lucked out with a purple OBW cover from a standard token, putting me at 3/3/5 for now. I'll hold out for a couple more blue covers.

Millsner, Sunday, 26 January 2014 04:08 (ten years ago) link

Neil Nosepicker (Leee), Sunday, 26 January 2014 19:32 (ten years ago) link

Finally pulled a Punisher cover, but no room plus I have a Doom cover coming in soon.

Neil Nosepicker (Leee), Sunday, 26 January 2014 23:06 (ten years ago) link

Does Patch look worth building up? Once they debug him, he's not going to be overwhelmingly awesome from all appearances, no?

Neil Nosepicker (Leee), Monday, 27 January 2014 04:12 (ten years ago) link

i think he'll still be pretty great -- just require really thoughtful play.

3 open slots; starting to think that if they keep throwing new characters out I'm gonna be ultimately forced to buy some coins.
Finally got Invisible Woman on a heroic draw so that's a complete roster short of daredevil who I assume I'll pull at the end of the current tourney. I am at #1 by about 40 points on the scotland yard run; would be great to pull the three patch covers as that gives me an excuse to not fight so hard on the next round. Not so into the punisher pvp fights; just too hard to crack the top 45. Working on primarily leveling OG Black Widow along with a handful of favorite and new guys (ares, punisher, doom, hood, patch, spidey) as I get them new covers. Then Classic Storm I guess, though I think i'm late to the game for her.

this harmless group of nerds and the women that love them (forksclovetofu), Monday, 27 January 2014 06:56 (ten years ago) link

having a rough time on those scotland yard missions due to the difficulty spikes. are you getting through those final missions (lvl 230) or just ignoring them?

Nhex, Monday, 27 January 2014 07:37 (ten years ago) link

I'm powering through them with minimal trouble honestly. OGBWidow/Thor/Wolverine with +20%Dark Avenger Damage/+3 all/+3 red and yellow buffs lets me knock out juggernaut fairly quick and then it's just about chipping away and replenishing wolverine's claw attacks and cockblocking the yellow and red matches from the ai

this harmless group of nerds and the women that love them (forksclovetofu), Monday, 27 January 2014 08:29 (ten years ago) link

OBW/Thor/Wolv is my A squad too.

Jeff, Monday, 27 January 2014 12:41 (ten years ago) link

burned through most of my boosts on the punisher tourney (just to get a bunch of Thor cards, bleh) but ok, i'll try that combo

Nhex, Monday, 27 January 2014 13:30 (ten years ago) link

Astonishing Wolverine is so brokenly OP at the moment, it's both awesome and ridiculous

nothing quite like building up 10 strike tiles so every match hits for over 1.5K and then using his red strike to one-shot the opposing tank
