I'm patchless.

Jeff, Monday, 27 January 2014 18:51 (ten years ago) link

no patch here either grrr

Euler, Monday, 27 January 2014 19:05 (ten years ago) link

Only 2 green Patches, woe is me.

Neil Nosepicker (Leee), Monday, 27 January 2014 19:15 (ten years ago) link

3*s are tough to get but obtainable, it's the 4*s that are ridiculous

Nhex, Monday, 27 January 2014 19:23 (ten years ago) link

i'm impressed you filled up patch; you must've been grinding these past few days
still #1 on scotland yard, hoping i can hang on

this harmless group of nerds and the women that love them (forksclovetofu), Monday, 27 January 2014 20:46 (ten years ago) link

i got 2/2/2 in the ares tourney. then ground a few in the last few events & then took top 5 in big pun round one. now i only need to hit top 45 or so in pun round 2, and i can basically ignore the subevents except if i care about early access to daredevil.

lollercoaster of rove (s.clover), Monday, 27 January 2014 21:12 (ten years ago) link

currently sitting at 4/3/5 with two reds in the inventory but i want a 5/3/5 build i think.

lollercoaster of rove (s.clover), Monday, 27 January 2014 21:12 (ten years ago) link

We haven't really talked about it, but I really dig the Daredevil concept, with hidden trap tiles the opponent can't see. Looks like a great counterpick to Blue characters.

What level is your Punisher, s.clover?

Nhex, Monday, 27 January 2014 21:15 (ten years ago) link

one hint for scotland yard: you can beat most of the non-dark avengers ones by going in with well leveled magnow/thor/wolverine and a blue buff. Mags blue attack clears the entire board and the purple gives you the blue attack, so you can start to cycle and pick them apart, even the 230 level guys

this harmless group of nerds and the women that love them (forksclovetofu), Monday, 27 January 2014 21:31 (ten years ago) link

yeah i was rolling obw with by 2/3/2 magnow, plus wolvie -- the first two actually would win it for me (spend purple with mag to get crits & give blue, spend blue to delay countdowns indefinitely) and wolvie was just there to make it go faster (damage).

I've Seen rRootage (Will M.), Monday, 27 January 2014 21:35 (ten years ago) link

Want magneto covers more than any other cover in the game

any magneto

just

COME ON

I've Seen rRootage (Will M.), Monday, 27 January 2014 21:40 (ten years ago) link

game really needs actual player interaction like cover-trading

mh, Monday, 27 January 2014 21:46 (ten years ago) link

that and/or a respec feature, where you spend a certain amount of ISO or hero points to split a character back into component covers so you can rebuild without having to delete all your progress and start collecting covers from scratch

like if I want to switch my Astonishing Wolvie from 5/4/4 to 5/3/5, I could split him down to components and then put him back together as lvl 6 5/3/4 and start leveling/collecting from there

SHAUN (DJP), Monday, 27 January 2014 21:50 (ten years ago) link

that is the most brutally punitive respec method ever, i truly hope they don't make it that harsh sohuld they implement a respec

I've Seen rRootage (Will M.), Monday, 27 January 2014 21:53 (ten years ago) link

maybe you can peel off covers one by one, and you only lose up to whatever the max lvl you could get to without the cover you removed?

SHAUN (DJP), Monday, 27 January 2014 21:55 (ten years ago) link

i'd be ok with that, even if they charged like a nominal HP fee (perhaps 25HP/star or something).

I've Seen rRootage (Will M.), Monday, 27 January 2014 21:59 (ten years ago) link

I probably played way too much OG WoW considering that first respec idea seemed to be entirely reasonable on first glance

SHAUN (DJP), Monday, 27 January 2014 22:00 (ten years ago) link

No HP fee is nominal till you've put in like 2.5 months of straight playing this.

Neil Nosepicker (Leee), Monday, 27 January 2014 22:17 (ten years ago) link

ate dinner, dropped from #9 to "top 25". well, at least i got two heroic tokens out of it

Nhex, Monday, 27 January 2014 23:22 (ten years ago) link

HAHAH i was top 5 until i got on the subway home. got out, boom, top 25. turned them in, got another WOLVERINE X-FORCE. joke's on you, MPQ, i won the fucking wolverine olympics

I've Seen rRootage (Will M.), Monday, 27 January 2014 23:27 (ten years ago) link

lol nice!

Nhex, Monday, 27 January 2014 23:37 (ten years ago) link

so anyone here gonna be the guinea pig for Avengers Elite? I'd be more tempted if we didn't have both the Punisher and Maggia missions up

Nhex, Tuesday, 28 January 2014 04:39 (ten years ago) link

second mission opened up on the Daredevil hub, btw

Nhex, Tuesday, 28 January 2014 04:42 (ten years ago) link

it's insanely powered up from jump. first fight is against 183 level people. or is that just me

this harmless group of nerds and the women that love them (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 28 January 2014 04:53 (ten years ago) link

No, same here. I think it's remembering our previous go around.

Neil Nosepicker (Leee), Tuesday, 28 January 2014 04:57 (ten years ago) link

mega level motherfuckers from jump is some bullshit.
anybody starting out with the same numbers? can't imagine playing this with my week 2 squad; i'd get consistently stomped.

this harmless group of nerds and the women that love them (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 28 January 2014 05:02 (ten years ago) link

My opponents aren't quite as high as yours -- they're starting in the 70s, but don't take long to get into the 90s.

Neil Nosepicker (Leee), Tuesday, 28 January 2014 05:13 (ten years ago) link

yeah, i'm at 230

this harmless group of nerds and the women that love them (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 28 January 2014 05:24 (ten years ago) link

first mission was OK, in the 90s, but jumped quickly to ~120s, then 200s afterwards
just devouring boosts mindlessly now

Nhex, Tuesday, 28 January 2014 05:33 (ten years ago) link

if i knew there was a daredevil at the end of this it'd be worth it but as is, meh
i do not like this new iteration of gameplay where they hate you openly

this harmless group of nerds and the women that love them (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 28 January 2014 05:34 (ten years ago) link

i jumped to #43 in the overall pool just now, so you'll probably be able to get that Daredevil

Nhex, Tuesday, 28 January 2014 05:36 (ten years ago) link

Not sure that DD looks like all that tbh, I kind of just want to grab the Cap covers.

Neil Nosepicker (Leee), Tuesday, 28 January 2014 05:37 (ten years ago) link

naw, i mean as a reward in the missions here. that overall ranking will adjust as soon as it's not 1 in the morning and everyone plays through these missions.

true, true

Nhex, Tuesday, 28 January 2014 05:48 (ten years ago) link

At least it's just Maggia mopes -- got my blue OBW!!!! :D

Neil Nosepicker (Leee), Tuesday, 28 January 2014 06:07 (ten years ago) link

somewhere on the forms the devs acknowledged scaling in this event is terrible and they hope to rerun it again with less insane jumps in difficulty.

i can knock down any mission w/ boosts pretty easy but its dull to keep grinding it.

nobody should do the avengers elite unless they are super buff and sitting on way more hp than they plan to spend.

lollercoaster of rove (s.clover), Tuesday, 28 January 2014 14:08 (ten years ago) link

I'm pretty good at the maggia only missions. Unless I can't fill my blue quick enough then I'm sniper shot fucked.

Jeff, Tuesday, 28 January 2014 14:11 (ten years ago) link

^ yup this p much

I've Seen rRootage (Will M.), Tuesday, 28 January 2014 14:32 (ten years ago) link

how does this "jump" thing work anyway? why is everyone level 200? did anyone find a way to deal around this? it's so brutal and unending.

I've Seen rRootage (Will M.), Tuesday, 28 January 2014 15:08 (ten years ago) link

yeah, this daredevil tourney has ended up unfun

Euler, Tuesday, 28 January 2014 15:13 (ten years ago) link

Whoa. I was mid-match and the game crashed. Came back and all of the badguys are like level 10. WTF?

I've Seen rRootage (Will M.), Tuesday, 28 January 2014 15:52 (ten years ago) link

...and they're all level 230 again

I've Seen rRootage (Will M.), Tuesday, 28 January 2014 16:02 (ten years ago) link

d3 not doing so d3lightful

this harmless group of nerds and the women that love them (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 28 January 2014 16:51 (ten years ago) link

The level crash happened to me very late last night while I was struck by illness and insomnia. Realizing this was probably a bug, I went through all the missions while the enemies were level 35ish, just so I could get through the story. Actually ended up at #1 on the overall leaderboard! of course, that didn't last, but it was exciting for a hot second.

Workaround for de-leveling the baddies in the DD PVE:

Retreat - a lot. It may take 5-10 times to do one wave of reduction. Do as many waves as you have to to reduce the opponents to manageable, and you may have to do it a few times during a cycle.

Use a supplied character if you can - the current sub has two provided in the first mission, so it's perfect. Use those three plus one of your scrubs and retreat over and over and over.

Neil Nosepicker (Leee), Tuesday, 28 January 2014 18:52 (ten years ago) link

Hmm, wonder what the new Wolvie/Thor builds should be, esp. since mine are yet to max out (though I have 4 green with 2* Wolferine).

Neil Nosepicker (Leee), Tuesday, 28 January 2014 19:00 (ten years ago) link

I like the Thor nerf! esp. b/c I have him at 4-4-5. call the storm looks mega now, & while it's not modern storm mega, he can take way more damage than she can.

I feel ok about the wolvie nerf, because I was getting bored of the "get green, cast feral claws" cycle playing him. still, rip

Euler, Tuesday, 28 January 2014 19:08 (ten years ago) link

Early nomination for the least fun mechanic in a game in 2014, ho-ly fuuuuck
