but that's good, right?

by broken he means OP, so yes!

Nhex, Tuesday, 18 March 2014 13:57 (ten years ago) link

basically 5 blue spidey is one of the potential endgame states imo

We hugged with no names exchanged (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 18 March 2014 14:10 (ten years ago) link

it is the marvel puzzle quest equivalent of a cultural victory in civ 5

Sam Malone, no relation (Will M.), Tuesday, 18 March 2014 14:15 (ten years ago) link

wait, no... the spaceship victory

Playing Spidey LR against a team that had max Thor, they managed to get 11 yellow AP, and as I was tightening my sphincter for the coming Thunderstrike, Spidey comes out of nowhere to cast Web Bandages when there were zero web tiles on the board. Oh AI, never change.

Gibbering Hard Gibberish Soft (Leee), Wednesday, 19 March 2014 04:35 (ten years ago) link

AI Juggernaut shockingly good at countering Spider-Man's webs when partnered with a high level character

Nhex, Wednesday, 19 March 2014 04:53 (ten years ago) link

Attacked for 249 points in the Thor tourney when I was sleeping. That's a new low.

Ian Glasper's trapped in a scone (aldo), Wednesday, 19 March 2014 07:12 (ten years ago) link

ouch, that burns.

Jeff, Wednesday, 19 March 2014 11:15 (ten years ago) link

I lost 84, but eeek

Euler, Wednesday, 19 March 2014 12:08 (ten years ago) link

Sometimes when I have to close the game in the middle of a match, when I come back it, it has automatically resigned me instead of continuing. Drives me fucking crazy.

Jeff, Wednesday, 19 March 2014 12:29 (ten years ago) link

I was about 2 fights off the MagNow cover which I could have done with (I think it was somewhere around 660 points), went down to just over 400.

I'd like to say fuck this game, but I suspect I will still keep playing casually and avoid the grind. Obtaining Talisman Prologue for free over the weekend will help me with this mindset.

2* Wolverine 5/4/3 is capped at 77, and I got a handful of ISO (~8000), with these non-capped characters:

Thor 71 4/3/5
C Storm 40 4/5/4
MN 28 3/1/3

I'm guessing Thor to have a big dumb tank available. Less interested in Storm now, since I run OBW every damn chance I get, and that blue goes to healing. MN is still too low to be of much use, I guess.

Gibbering Hard Gibberish Soft (Leee), Wednesday, 19 March 2014 16:15 (ten years ago) link

I'm over 100k ISO now. Still got analysis paralysis on deciding who to upgrade.

Jeff, Wednesday, 19 March 2014 16:20 (ten years ago) link

Lee: Go Thor, he's a solid all-rounder. OBW pretty much takes the same slot as Mag Now, and C. Storm can be sat on, unless you want to use her for Divine Champions this week.

Jeff: Who are your options again?

Nhex, Wednesday, 19 March 2014 16:23 (ten years ago) link

pulled a psylocke cover last night on a 2 star draw, and then placed top 5 in the thor tourney so I got three more psylocke covers for that

let's just say that I have gotten...accustomed to spidey stun lock

Euler, Wednesday, 19 March 2014 16:32 (ten years ago) link

My prime candidate would be Punisher. I have him at 3/3/3 and could level him up to 89. None of my other three stars seem worth it at this point. Two stars, I would do Ares, who I also have at 3/3/3. Not a fan of the sacrificial playing style though.

Jeff, Wednesday, 19 March 2014 16:43 (ten years ago) link

You're the type that never uses Jugg's headbutt?

Gibbering Hard Gibberish Soft (Leee), Wednesday, 19 March 2014 16:49 (ten years ago) link

I love Punisher but I think he doesn't get really good until you have 5 Red, or 5 in Green or Black. Still, any leveled up 3* is worth having IMO, if merely for the intimidation factor in PVP, and it'll help you more of those cards later to fill it out.

Ares, you need 5 Yellow to be solid, but I never pushed him far enough to see how good he is at max level anyway

Nhex, Wednesday, 19 March 2014 16:51 (ten years ago) link

jeff, level your three star guys and jump the line. i wish i had that kind of iso.

We hugged with no names exchanged (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 19 March 2014 16:57 (ten years ago) link

If I level Punisher from 16 to 89, I'll still have around 40K iso left.

Think of our alliance, man!

Gibbering Hard Gibberish Soft (Leee), Wednesday, 19 March 2014 17:03 (ten years ago) link

OGBW fully maxed is gonna be worth the trouble until you get spidey imo
you really need a healer to (over)play this fuckin' thing

when's the next alliance event?

We hugged with no names exchanged (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 19 March 2014 17:06 (ten years ago) link

Character
- Nick Fury has returned from a brief sabbatical at a day spa, returning with a new look. Even genius tacticians need a break every now and then.
I like these patch notes

Nhex, Wednesday, 19 March 2014 18:02 (ten years ago) link

obw + spidey is pretty great too because the blue generation really feeds him.

eric banana (s.clover), Wednesday, 19 March 2014 18:02 (ten years ago) link

Eventually your Spidey's blue tile strength will overtake OBW though, which cancels out Espionage

Nhex, Wednesday, 19 March 2014 18:04 (ten years ago) link

she'll still get it for black and purple tho'

We hugged with no names exchanged (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 19 March 2014 18:11 (ten years ago) link

Purple, no. Black, yes, unless you're using Punisher.

Nhex, Wednesday, 19 March 2014 18:24 (ten years ago) link

wondering then if it's worth leveling spidey up, once you have 5 blue covers? right now he's not taking any hits b/c his attacks are weaker than OBW's, and whoever the meat shield is. & the stun lock + purple shields only depend on # of blue matches, not on level.

Euler, Wednesday, 19 March 2014 18:29 (ten years ago) link

It's worth it - Spidey will always get targeted first in PVP because of the web loop, and at max level, he has 5800 HP

Nhex, Wednesday, 19 March 2014 18:41 (ten years ago) link

my spidey still doesn't grab blue from obw and i don't see why i'd level him up further. fast offensive wins in pvp way more important than occasional defensive wins/deterrence effect. spidey is never a deterrent anyway.

eric banana (s.clover), Wednesday, 19 March 2014 18:47 (ten years ago) link

oh right, yeah I forgot about defense

in the thor tourney I made it into the top 5 but I lost so many battles at the end, was just advancing ten points (not ranks, points) at a time, beating all these big teams with stun lock but losing nearly as many

Euler, Wednesday, 19 March 2014 18:47 (ten years ago) link

Remember you can skip up to three battles before the negative iso penalty kicks in

Nhex, Wednesday, 19 March 2014 18:48 (ten years ago) link

what's your A team, s.clover, & how do you pull off those fast wins?

yesterday's blitz with spidey made for a bunch of slooooooow battles, esp. since my modern Thor, even buffed, was not doing mega damage, neither on tiles nor on blasts

Euler, Wednesday, 19 March 2014 18:49 (ten years ago) link

I almost never see spidey in pvp. He seems to be popular in forums, but I rarely run across him.

Jeff, Wednesday, 19 March 2014 18:51 (ten years ago) link

if you're stuck with a pointless character like "lazy thor" and spidey is your number two, you need a damage dealer third. hulk or punisher seems like a good fit.

We hugged with no names exchanged (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 19 March 2014 19:00 (ten years ago) link

or magnow for blue creation/red attack

We hugged with no names exchanged (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 19 March 2014 19:00 (ten years ago) link

I was aiming for multiple PSY covers in the Fat Thor tourney, only came out with 1.

Gibbering Hard Gibberish Soft (Leee), Wednesday, 19 March 2014 19:05 (ten years ago) link

i love the immediate grasping of Lazy Thor / Fat Thor

Nhex, Wednesday, 19 March 2014 19:06 (ten years ago) link

yeah @ forks but I was winning that way. just slowly. probably didn't need OBW though with spidey since his yellow heal, even with just one cover, is good enough, esp when I have web tiles everywhere. & OBW's steal is not useful when the enemy is on stun lock & has nothing to steal

Euler, Wednesday, 19 March 2014 19:08 (ten years ago) link

nerd lolz

3/5/5 spidey 90, 5/3/5 patch 110, whatever. (obw or mags if i can pick).

race to 10 blue or so (prioritizing that above all else, and otherwise focusing on denial), and pick up 7 green along the way. hopefully the squishiest opponent is mainly down by then. then fire off patch's green and stunlock whatever's left. obw or mags can really double down on the strike tile damage, and speed things up even further. after patch's green goes off its 4 turns till the end, 2 if i'm lucky 7 or so if i'm not or if they have some high hp big hitters.

if i'm starved on blue and feeling worried i accept i might take some damage and fire green before i can stunlock everyone.

the worst thing that can happen to this team is psy, since she can toss out a quick attack tile and then even when i have the team stunlocked its doing boosted damage. usually a punisher molotov isn't as bad since i can lock him down before it gets an attack tile out.

eric banana (s.clover), Wednesday, 19 March 2014 19:26 (ten years ago) link

ah ok. I don't have a patch yet. guess his green is like a 2 star wolvie red blast + green attack, all in one. I WANT

Euler, Wednesday, 19 March 2014 19:30 (ten years ago) link

I have the Thors on almost the same level -- little Thor level 63 5/3/5, fat Thor level 61 2/2/3. Fat Thor's yellow ability does more damage than little Thor's, and his other attacks are only weaker because of the lack of covers. Both yellows at level 3, it's 762 damage to 536. He's going to be the best character outside of Spidey/CMags if they don't nerf him.

qwop zapatos (abanana), Wednesday, 19 March 2014 19:34 (ten years ago) link

Fat Thor is the same abilities-wise as pre-nerf Lil Thor, right? It'd be absolutely perverse (and hilarious) for the devs to nerf Fat Thor.

Gibbering Hard Gibberish Soft (Leee), Wednesday, 19 March 2014 19:41 (ten years ago) link

I think the amplitude of each power is greater when maxed out compared to the previous lvl 85 Thor.

Jeff, Wednesday, 19 March 2014 19:46 (ten years ago) link

right lazy thor is same as current 2** post-nerf thor, just bigger

eric banana (s.clover), Wednesday, 19 March 2014 19:49 (ten years ago) link

The trend for 3*s and up has been to not scale well against 2*s until they're in the higher levels
