you could tell in both episodes this week that ben and laganja had been crying (in the respective episodes) which is always a classic reality show tip off that the person is about to get eliminated. so i assumed it was something like that.

good riddance to bad lasagna, i say

patron sailor, Wednesday, 9 April 2014 20:00 (ten years ago) link

also i'm impressed by trinity's comeback storyline. i'm losing faith in ben's ability to make it to the finals, he's obviously struggling with the vulnerability problem that various queens come up against every season but I'm not sure his increasingly brittle drag persona can survive the sort of shake up necessary to win back ru's affections -- especially since trinity is well into her own redemption storyline.

patron sailor, Wednesday, 9 April 2014 20:13 (ten years ago) link

And Trinity's wit is underrated. She's had it from the get go, but it's quieter and emerges in unexpected contexts. Often she expresses it without saying a word!

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 9 April 2014 20:19 (ten years ago) link

Someone asked Dela this at the show I go to and the producers asked them to wear the same outfit at each taping.

Kinda shady (or clever) from the editors who can then use any reaction shot for whichever episode it fits best.
Like the one from Courtney after filming her commercial was so obvious. I doubt she said she did it in one take. Might have been from the singing or the rap challenge.

LeRooLeRoo, Wednesday, 9 April 2014 20:20 (ten years ago) link

brittle

This is the perfect word to describe Ben's Achilles heel at this point in the competition.

Cronk's Not Cronk (Eric H.), Wednesday, 9 April 2014 20:21 (ten years ago) link

yeah otm

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 9 April 2014 20:27 (ten years ago) link

I'm at least hoping the next few episodes feature individual challenges, feels like there has been a real shortage of those so far.

patron sailor, Wednesday, 9 April 2014 20:58 (ten years ago) link

I thought the same thing.

LeRooLeRoo, Wednesday, 9 April 2014 21:50 (ten years ago) link

Finally caught up.

Brittle describes a LOT of the queens this season. Trinity's come-around is a little too pat, especially from, I unno, a real self-actualization point of view or whatever. I've watched too much reality tv to buy it wholeheartedly, but at the very least, if this means we don't have another week of her naked esteem issues, I won't complain too hard.

Can't exactly complain about Laganja going home, even if I started out on her side in the beginning and was reluctant to give up on her, she was TRYING in every syntactical sense. And everyone who noted how she was in fact ganged up on OTM -- uncomfortable viewing, there.

Also I'll end my biancabiancabiancaOMGbianca blather now by saying I think Bianca is v attractive out of drag

TBH I think she's v attractive in drag. #idonothaveaclownfetish

I'm happy to hold down the Team Joslyn fort by myself!

I think what courtney said about bianca in that one untucked was true, basically that she's not *unattractive* but she's not exactly Attractive either

she's... pretty in her own way (i believe courtney said this as well)

le goon (J0rdan S.), Friday, 11 April 2014 04:38 (ten years ago) link

In the stand-up challenge for S3, only Manila outright bombed, right?

Call the Doctorb, the B is for Brownstein (Leee), Friday, 11 April 2014 20:58 (ten years ago) link

Delta kinda fell off but yeah I think Manila totally ate it after the start.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 11 April 2014 21:09 (ten years ago) link

Forgot about Delta, natch! Anyway, for all the hype about this being a performance-seasoned cast, the fraction that bombed this time is kind of staggering, OKUURRR? (One or two out of seven vs. three or four out of 8.)

rewatching S4

I totally forgot about Alisa Summers & her tragic fraggle breastplate

The only time so far where a message from RuPaul was totally ignored AND a special guest was left hanging out in the other lounge.

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 12 April 2014 23:30 (ten years ago) link

yup yup!

I kinda assume that Dita/RuPaul's ignored urging were added in post-production, based on nothing really.

INTERESTING. Just now posted via the show's FB page:

We wanted to thank the community for sharing their concerns around a recent segment and the use of the term 'she-mail' on Drag Race.
Logo has pulled the episode from all of our platforms and that challenge will not appear again.
Furthermore, we are removing the 'You've Got She-Mail' intro from new episodes of the series.
We did not intend to cause any offense, but in retrospect we realize that it was insensitive. We sincerely apologize.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 14 April 2014 14:45 (ten years ago) link

Oh dear at Joslyn's prep. That is all. For now.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 15 April 2014 05:22 (ten years ago) link

That was NOT the bottom two I was expecting.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 15 April 2014 06:41 (ten years ago) link

sorta weird that they booted trinity just as her redemption narrative was getting going but she's been pretty up and down and there's no way they were gonna let adore go just yet

joslyn probably offers a bit more friction amongst the girls so that might've been a producer's decision

le goon (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 15 April 2014 14:06 (ten years ago) link

Maybe. Still pretty damn weird, especially if we're talking Joslyn's big biff of a question plus that outfit, which Trinity wiped the floor with.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 15 April 2014 14:14 (ten years ago) link

yeah trinity's runway look was incredible

i feel like joslyn's prob going home next week anyway so it might not even end up mattering

le goon (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 15 April 2014 14:19 (ten years ago) link

Next week does look fun -- makeover challenge, wedding challenge, NPH!

Am wondering more and more, though -- a lot of the regular challenges are coming a little...early? Noticed this before, how Snatch Game had ten people, the reading mini challenge was a touch early too, and now this, which usually comes when there are five people left, not six. This is all feeding into my sense that they're going to do something a little different for the end of the challenges/final winner scenario.

Meantime, Courtney now makes it four who have won twice, along with Ben, Bianca and Adore.

What. Just. Happened.

Cronk's Not Cronk (Eric H.), Wednesday, 16 April 2014 02:16 (ten years ago) link

If last week I came to the conclusion that this season was a confluence of prior tried-and-true types pitted against each other, now we see the result of these narratives clashing and all sense flying out the window. What other way to explain Trinity getting dismissed at this point in her storyline? What other way to explain answering Joslyn's extremely touching and genuine Untucked moment last week by casting her as the show's Tatianna (not overtly villainous but also not as seasoned and poised to send Pandora/BenDeLa packing next week)? And has anyone else coasted as far by (predominately) hanging out in the background as Darienne?

Cronk's Not Cronk (Eric H.), Wednesday, 16 April 2014 02:23 (ten years ago) link

Dela was robbed

As edited, it was a true dead-even sitch, though Visage's objection makes me wonder.

Both even brought out their best in$$$pector gadget drag.

Cronk's Not Cronk (Eric H.), Wednesday, 16 April 2014 02:26 (ten years ago) link

that lipsync was badASS

Cronk's Not Cronk (Eric H.), Wednesday, 16 April 2014 02:30 (ten years ago) link

I loved the concept of dela's runway look but the actual execution of the costume looked kinda Michael's to me, a bit too artsycraftsy construction paper

but i'm mean :)

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 16 April 2014 02:40 (ten years ago) link

I love Joslyn but yeah she should've been in the bottom. I have to agree with Courtney that she's become this season's Dida Ritz. She's sweet but lacking too much polish to have made it this far.

Dela was robbed.

I think it was very close but I would've given it to Ben too. She was an INSECT !! Courtney looked more like an angel than a bird imo.

LeRooLeRoo, Wednesday, 16 April 2014 02:43 (ten years ago) link

(x-post) I thought it looked very professionnal !

LeRooLeRoo, Wednesday, 16 April 2014 02:44 (ten years ago) link

Speaking of mean, I had to rewind "a meaty tuck" a few times.

Cronk's Not Cronk (Eric H.), Wednesday, 16 April 2014 02:44 (ten years ago) link

Furthermore, it took me until this week to realize Joslyn's voice is exactly the same as the ones from all the tracheotomy patients speaking through their voice boxes in the QuitPlan commercial currently in rotation on logo.tv
