I might text the Metro about it.

We were asked to consider Room's rather unimaginative Christmas menu at work the other day. I think we're just going to one of the hotels up the end of Argyle Street now.

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 20 October 2005 12:48 (eighteen years ago) link

Also, its logo is really naff.

Easyjet!

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 20 October 2005 13:03 (eighteen years ago) link

room sounds kinda contrived.

we should go to the greek golden kebab on the south side. and no, not just because it's a bawhair away from my house.

failing that, we should just go to the PUB.

room's logo looks like a weirdo's knuckleduster

A mutant's handcuffs.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 20 October 2005 13:07 (eighteen years ago) link

Haha, Grimly thinks he can tempt ilx sarf of the river. Ooh, but there is that good-looking Kurdish place on Pollokshaws Road which I want to try.

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 20 October 2005 13:13 (eighteen years ago) link

I don't want to pull a good-looking Kurd. Actually maybe I do. I was assuming it was all men, for some reason. How sexist. Or is it homophobic? Or racist?

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 20 October 2005 13:14 (eighteen years ago) link

Hang, on. We're not going out on the pull, are we? I'm getting confused with the conversation I am having with my colleagues about our Christmas do.

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 20 October 2005 13:21 (eighteen years ago) link

Cafe La Padella is kind of Turkish.

that good-looking Kurdish place on Pollokshaws Road

koshkemeer? YES, IT LOOKS ACE. let's go there. now.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 20 October 2005 13:27 (eighteen years ago) link

I tried and failed to persuade Stet to go there last night. There was one near the Snaffle, but I think it's closed down. Aren't a lot of the Turkish people here actually ethnic Kurds who have done a runner?

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 20 October 2005 13:27 (eighteen years ago) link

ethnic Kurds

I think

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 20 October 2005 13:29 (eighteen years ago) link

Let's talk about Turkey's human rights record, for Cathy.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 20 October 2005 13:31 (eighteen years ago) link

There = Padella. He is up for 'the Kosh'.
(X-post again, I can't keep up)

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 20 October 2005 13:31 (eighteen years ago) link

the argan cafe?

seb's?

mediterranean, more than turkish

cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 20 October 2005 13:33 (eighteen years ago) link

I tried and failed to persuade Stet to go there last night

tell him he's a big chumper.

and to check his e-mail.

i'm not really up on the turkish diaspora, but i do know that lots of people have told me koshkemeer - which styles itself "scotland's first kurdish restaurant" - is absolutely MIGHTY. as long as you like lamb, that is.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 20 October 2005 13:34 (eighteen years ago) link

When I worked in the tall flats on Red Road, there was a lovely Kurdish woman called Neriman whose dream it was to own a cafe. She was doing her food hygiene certificate and looking at a place near the university at the time (about 3 years ago). I've often wondered what happened to her.

She used to sing me the Turkish version of Kiss Kiss too!

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 20 October 2005 13:39 (eighteen years ago) link

I don't like lamb

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 20 October 2005 13:41 (eighteen years ago) link

you worked in the red road flats?

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 20 October 2005 13:41 (eighteen years ago) link

Yeah, for about 3 months in summer 2002. It was by far the most interesting, friendly and thoroughly good place I've worked since I've been here. I was just very overqualified and underpaid.

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 20 October 2005 13:47 (eighteen years ago) link

I don't like lamb

you and mrs fiendish both (hence my not having been to koshkemeer yet).

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 20 October 2005 14:14 (eighteen years ago) link

Does she like pork?

(trying to earn my ASBO)

cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 20 October 2005 14:19 (eighteen years ago) link

The List says you don't have to eat lamb; chicken and fish are also available. Also, it is BYO = key I'd say.

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 20 October 2005 14:27 (eighteen years ago) link

Does she like pork?

no, but she enjoys tiny chipolatas very much.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 20 October 2005 14:31 (eighteen years ago) link

very backwards

cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 20 October 2005 14:32 (eighteen years ago) link

This is totally the year of the sausage. (for me I mean).

alext (alext), Thursday, 20 October 2005 14:37 (eighteen years ago) link

If we're not going to ATP we should totally go somewhere with sausages.

alext (alext), Thursday, 20 October 2005 14:38 (eighteen years ago) link

I wouldn't call Pancho Villas good, but by UK standards it's acceptable. (crosspost)

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 20 October 2005 14:40 (eighteen years ago) link

Anyway, how does Friday 11th November suit?

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 20 October 2005 14:53 (eighteen years ago) link

november 11 is good by me.

If we're not going to ATP we should totally go somewhere with sausages

you sausage-obsessed poltroon :)

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 20 October 2005 15:05 (eighteen years ago) link

I've had more sausages than are good for me. They're on sale in Sainsbury's on woodlands road, sossidge fans.

I tried and failed to persuade Stet

She did:

Stet: Where shall we go for to eat?
Madchen: Well, there's this cafe down woodlands rd.
S: O? Wot do it sell tell me o you mite
M: I've no idea. It's a cafe, I think. It mite be closed, too.
S: Any idea what it sells at all?
M: Um, no. It's a cafe. O the rain's on now too.
S: Let's go somewhere good instead.
M: OK.

Hey! I'm off Friday 11. I can come too. The Kosh then?

stet (stet), Thursday, 20 October 2005 15:12 (eighteen years ago) link

Hello Glasgow. Sorry to interupt your thread, but I wanted to communicate with Alba D. (Not that the rest of you aren't lovely)
Nick, do I have your correct mobile number? I have three email addresses for you, but they are all very old. Could you email me?

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 20 October 2005 15:13 (eighteen years ago) link

Hi Anna!
