I think he just means he spent the whole time watching it.

Which just fits his general obsession with mouths.

ooh i like that

ATTN Tim F: The 1975 playing at the Hi-Fi on Monday July 28.

Also an all ages show at the Hi-Fi on the Sunday beforehand at 1pm, which I think I'll avoid.

I BEEN ON

Tim F, Tuesday, 6 May 2014 07:23 (nine years ago) link

Sky Ferreira will be out in the same week! All of my adolescence-recapturing stars are coming into alignment.

Tim F, Tuesday, 6 May 2014 11:40 (nine years ago) link

Haha yes. I plan to see both and perhaps also First Aid Kit and / or Future Islands.

KROQ is starting to play "Chocolate," wonder if it will stick?

Bee OK, Wednesday, 7 May 2014 02:05 (nine years ago) link

lol I read that as "wonder if it will shtick" and it still made perfect sense.

Tim F, Wednesday, 7 May 2014 04:37 (nine years ago) link

i've only heard "chocolate" on hot ac stations so far and it didn't seem like it stuck around on playlists for too long, was nice while it lasted tho

dyl, Wednesday, 7 May 2014 06:30 (nine years ago) link

nooooooooooooooooooo i think their show is sold out :(

ginuwine's cousin (monotony), Thursday, 8 May 2014 23:44 (nine years ago) link

This album keeps invading my brain more and more over time. One of the best albums I've heard in the past couple years

Yeah I also won't get to see them in DC or Baltimore because the shows sold out by the time I got into the album. :( I blame their name - I saw this thread title last year but figured they were like Wolfmother or something. Also a fan of the Bad Suns who they're touring with, so I'm doubly bummed.

Vinnie, Monday, 19 May 2014 16:28 (nine years ago) link

two months pass...

LIVE. SO GOOD.

Especially "Fallingforyou" and "Me" and "You" and "Menswear" and "Sex".

Tim F, Monday, 28 July 2014 14:08 (nine years ago) link

So I guess I should see them when they come here in December then.

Greer, Monday, 28 July 2014 15:44 (nine years ago) link

I saw them a month ago and it was the best show ever. I have so many feels.

Nourry, Monday, 28 July 2014 20:23 (nine years ago) link

Fiiiiiiine I'll go. Surprised they are coming here to az!

Strictly EZ Snappin' Nhex (Spottie), Tuesday, 29 July 2014 01:13 (nine years ago) link

i'm so mad i missed them AGAIN because it sold out, this is like the third time this has happened >:(

They said they're coming back (again!) in January. Be ready this time!

Tim F, Tuesday, 29 July 2014 02:21 (nine years ago) link

two weeks pass...

Jan 15 at festival hall (ugh!) - I'm ready this time though! Presale starts on Monday.

spent my free time today trying to make a coherent playlist out of the eps http://open.spotify.com/user/unbornwhiskey/playlist/43L5u0OojGMPdYjFCelofh

i also saw them at boston calling and they were really great idk

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Tuesday, 9 September 2014 20:51 (nine years ago) link

i remember when the sex ep came out and i kinda discounted the non-"sex" tracks as mostly strange, subdued, ambient things and now they're some of my favorite music of the past few years

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Tuesday, 9 September 2014 21:11 (nine years ago) link

Agreed. Still think the album would be improved by having more of that vibe (they could probably afford to lose, IDK, "She Way Out" to make space for it).

I was pleased when Matt said that "fallingforyou" was his favourite of their songs.

Tim F, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 01:54 (nine years ago) link

thx for the link

hearing "she way out" live totally turned my feelings around about it

two phone everything

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Wednesday, 10 September 2014 03:04 (nine years ago) link

Oh yeah I really like the song (esp. "I've got a feeling that marijuana's rotting your brain" becoming "I've got a feeling that my friends are gonna kick in your brain") but coming after "Talk", "Heart Out", "Settle Down" and "Girls" it feels a bit like a superfluous and less distinct amalgam of all four.

Agreed that it worked very well live. When I saw the them the weakest song was "Settle Down", surprisingly.

Tim F, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 10:19 (nine years ago) link

fallingdownthisrabbitholeagain i discovered i somehow missed the totally credible disclosurey remix by the drummer on the 2nd sex ep! awesome

for real waiting with bated breath for what these guys do next (and i don't often feel that way even for fave artists)

haha yeah true, and i do still kinda feel this way. "m.o.n.e.y." is also a real monster live

Lol / True

Tim F, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 11:52 (nine years ago) link

I'm hopeful they don't just continue to refine the whole eighties soundtrack pop thing, it's been a good look but it's such a small fraction of what they can do.

Unless they transmute it into something like their cover of "So Good To Me".

Tim F, Wednesday, 10 September 2014 11:55 (nine years ago) link

omg I cued up 'Chocolate' this afternoon and oh hi obsession all over again.
I'm sad that I went for a few months without listening to them every single day

after all this time, "Girls" is starting to get played on US pop radio

some dude, Sunday, 14 September 2014 13:15 (nine years ago) link

yeah i'm surprised it ended being this instead of "chocolate" that managed to get some decent pop radio play but i ain't complaining, it's a nice enough tune

dyl, Sunday, 14 September 2014 16:37 (nine years ago) link

well, "Chocolate" got to #25 on the Pop Songs chart, "Girls" is only at #32 right now but it's still rising. i kinda wonder if the success of 5 Seconds Of Summer in America is leading the industry to give The 1975 another push.

some dude, Sunday, 14 September 2014 16:47 (nine years ago) link

1 of those nights where a 1975 song comes on shuffle and i then listen to everything they've ever released for hours on end when i should be going to bed. i swear none of these songs on any of the eps or the lp are anything less than flawless and crucial to my life
