I think that was the explanation for one of my incidents, but the other times it really seemed to have chosen the "get fired from your job" alert tone on its own contra my instructions.

use my phone as alarm, usually it goes fine. I like that I can change the tone so that if the tone I've been using starts to make me feel nauseous while waking me up I can switch to something new.

iPhone alarms work great

Nhex, Friday, 23 May 2014 21:44 (nine years ago) link

iPhone has been substitute clock-radio alarm for years now. Use the sleep-after-x-minutes function going to bed and waking with either sleep cycle or the standard clock.

Old Apple lust object: mid-2010 MacBook Pro, screen glass slightly cracked but the LCD seems fine ... anyone ever had MacBook glass replaced or done it themselves? What kind of cost am I looking at if I take it somewhere? Is it worth trying to fix it myself?

My preferred solution would be a gleamy new Air, but current financial circumstances dictate a repair or maybe just using it as is ... fortunately the cracks are only at one edge of the screen (for now).

socki (s1ocki), Monday, 2 June 2014 21:13 (nine years ago) link

so spooked that the Mac on Apple's homepage is showing the Heath Ceramics website, which I was just looking at last nite for only the second time in my life. My first thought was that Apple was sniffing my browser history or something....

3rd-party installable keyboards - so I can finally get an extra row of keys so i'm not constantly flipping between letters/numbers/symbols?

Lee626, Monday, 2 June 2014 21:17 (nine years ago) link

Genuinely excited about Swift.

Elvis Telecom, Monday, 2 June 2014 21:23 (nine years ago) link

whats good about swift

it's a modern language with a lot of nice features

but what people are really excited about is the prospect of NOT using objective-c for mac/ios development, obj-c being a very odd and verbose language

diamonddave85‌ (diamonddave85), Monday, 2 June 2014 21:38 (nine years ago) link

Heath ceramics makes nice stuff ime

a strange man (mh), Monday, 2 June 2014 21:55 (nine years ago) link

I like Objective-C, but Swift looks like it keeps the stuff I like and I never have to see that fucking block syntax again
