ultros ultros-ghali?

how's life, Monday, 23 June 2014 16:39 (nine years ago) link

ultros is most likely a new poster bc i can't imagine him (it's probably a him) being older than 17

clouds, Wednesday, 25 June 2014 17:45 (nine years ago) link

ultros ultros-ghali wrote this on thread Guardian 40 Best Bands in the U.K. on board I Love Music on May 26, 2014

I was 13/14 when Hundred Reasons started knocking about so I suppose I was the right age. I think their debut was one of the first albums I bought and I feel way less embarassed about that than I do about loving, say, Limp Bizkit and Blink 182 at that point. But then again I haven't actually listened to them in the best part of a decade so who knows?

soref, Wednesday, 25 June 2014 17:48 (nine years ago) link

what's the age where you stop being embarrassed to have liked something in the past?

Treeship, Wednesday, 25 June 2014 22:04 (nine years ago) link

ultros ultros-ghali is a clever attempt by the ilx system code to replicate my music taste with a less flamboyant posting style, so as to increase the chances of a sincere avant-prog discussion occurring

USSteel is... someone well established (at least afaik, best left alone tbh)

the Bronski Review (Trayce), Thursday, 26 June 2014 01:05 (nine years ago) link

u s steel is kicking around here still?

call all destroyer, Thursday, 26 June 2014 01:08 (nine years ago) link

I thought the question was whether a new poster is the poster formerly known as us steel?

sarahell, Thursday, 26 June 2014 01:09 (nine years ago) link

O rite. I dont think IMLosted is her, Ive seen them posting on and off for a long time.

I am speculating upon Daphnis Celeste - I know well Tom D's former identity

Daphnis Celesta, Sunday, 6 July 2014 07:13 (nine years ago) link

NV?

which was retweeted by (imago), Sunday, 6 July 2014 09:17 (nine years ago) link

also I too thought of 'pizzazz' but it's such a ropey neologism that any self-respecting Scrabble dictionary...oh wait fine, as you were

see also quinquenquiquiquillery, a word that has something to do with the number fifteen that I just made up

can't believe self-respecting Scrabble dictionaries include words from the early 20th century

haha I read this exchange a few days ago & thought "quality zing but damn Doctor Casino is salty today"

Towards A New Novel (and it sucks and whatever) (wins), Sunday, 6 July 2014 09:40 (nine years ago) link

Yeah, and the 'oh wait fine' indicated that it was a theoretically acceptable word anyhow

which was retweeted by (imago), Sunday, 6 July 2014 09:46 (nine years ago) link

how old does a neologism have to be before it's no longer a neologism and is actually just a word?

lag∞n, Wednesday, 31 December 2014 16:44 (nine years ago) link

i searched that when i first noticed man alive but saw the old name was still posting, must have been a little overlap

gr8080, Wednesday, 31 December 2014 16:46 (nine years ago) link

lag∞n, Wednesday, 31 December 2014 16:48 (nine years ago) link

lag∞n, Wednesday, 31 December 2014 16:52 (nine years ago) link

I bought my parents a roku stick, thinking it must be ok bc hurting. But it had many issues with our wireless router. So I returned it and got them an Apple TV which worked immediately.

I am now ready to let this experience, which I secretly blamed on hurting, go.

feel like that one's pretty obvious!

Benson and the Jets (ENBB), Tuesday, 13 January 2015 15:11 (nine years ago) link

really? ilx has a number of booty eating and cleaning experts iirc, how can you tell which one is "a booty cleaner"?

marcos, Tuesday, 13 January 2015 16:03 (nine years ago) link

yeah I was gonna reveal sooner or later but I figured u guys would figure it out, and i figured the nba thread was one of the likely giveaways

walid foster dulles (man alive), Tuesday, 13 January 2015 16:05 (nine years ago) link

lol i thought you were admitting to be ABC and I was going to say woah yeah that's not who I expected AT ALL.

Benson and the Jets (ENBB), Tuesday, 13 January 2015 16:06 (nine years ago) link

Oh btw sufjan I hardwire my roku, shoulda told u that I guess. Our internet router is right where our tv is so no reason not to. I would bet Apple's wireless thing works better than Roku's.

walid foster dulles (man alive), Tuesday, 13 January 2015 16:06 (nine years ago) link

xp lol

walid foster dulles (man alive), Tuesday, 13 January 2015 16:06 (nine years ago) link

I can't divulge how i know specifically but let just say that my iltmi mod powers allowed me to confirm that it is who I suspected all along. I don't know why I guessed the person - I just did. The style seemed familiar, I guess.

Benson and the Jets (ENBB), Tuesday, 13 January 2015 16:12 (nine years ago) link
