wingers this morning are in hilarious "I was a huge fan until THIS" mode

J0hn D., Thursday, 25 September 2008 15:28 (fifteen years ago) link

NOW you say something?

Best 1982-86, esp when Sandra Bernhard or Pee-Wee were on. He's still gold compared to fucking Leno, but I watch maybe 3x a year.

― Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Friday, October 28, 2005

Mackro, Shirley MacLaine says you and 'twat really are assholes.

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 25 September 2008 15:29 (fifteen years ago) link

"'twat"?

Mr. Que, Thursday, 25 September 2008 15:36 (fifteen years ago) link

YESSSSSS

Mackro Mackro, Thursday, 25 September 2008 15:37 (fifteen years ago) link

it seems like now that Morbs is in some kind of self-imposed exile from the election thread, he's turning into a sort of political gershy, reviving threads to sneak in posts

Nader, the Democracts, Chomsky, and the Left this time around

A bold plan drawn up by assholes to screw morons (dan m), Thursday, 25 September 2008 15:39 (fifteen years ago) link

That's his nickname for Ethan.

No, it's on the back of his baseball card.

Like anyone in showbiz, of course Letterman was self-regarding, but it was of an apolitical nature that at least had a solipsistic integrity about it (and was always leavened with his "I'm a jerk" ad libs which always sounded admirably sincere).

fun trend: bloggers telling ppl to shut up

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 25 September 2008 15:41 (fifteen years ago) link

i think craig ferguson is the funniest dude out there right now

Mohammed Butt (max), Thursday, 25 September 2008 15:42 (fifteen years ago) link

wait Ethan plays baseball with Shirley MacLaine now i am really confused

Mr. Que, Thursday, 25 September 2008 15:42 (fifteen years ago) link

fun trend: old ppl who don't watch the TV shows they complain about

Cletus Tiffins (Curt1s Stephens), Thursday, 25 September 2008 15:43 (fifteen years ago) link

lol at you assuming thread ban was self-imposed

and what, Thursday, 25 September 2008 15:43 (fifteen years ago) link

complain about tv shows they don't watch rather

Cletus Tiffins (Curt1s Stephens), Thursday, 25 September 2008 15:43 (fifteen years ago) link

like all of you, I am a jerk as well, btw.

Cutis stfu.

It is, ethan, you pederastic little fuckface (alt nickname).

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 25 September 2008 15:44 (fifteen years ago) link

Best 1982-86, esp when Sandra Bernhard or Pee-Wee were on.

OTM. The decline began as soon as Steve Jordan left the band and that ham-fisted fuck Anton Fig took over on drums. And when the band started to play pre-composed theme music for the bits instead of just flailing with Paul yelling "Yeah!" repeatedly.

Sara Sara Sara, Thursday, 25 September 2008 15:45 (fifteen years ago) link

ferguson is pretty funny, he was easily the best during the writers' strike too

MacLaine called Letterman an ashole on the air btw

and what, Thursday, 25 September 2008 15:46 (fifteen years ago) link

Letterman is still funny and not at all a "pundit"

Cletus Tiffins (Curt1s Stephens), Thursday, 25 September 2008 15:48 (fifteen years ago) link

clowns interviewing pols w/ "serious" questions always = pundit aspirations

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 25 September 2008 15:51 (fifteen years ago) link

tis pity he's now devolved into a self-regarding would-be pundit a la Jon Stewart

tis pity (but not surprise) that you can't catch the ironic tone of his self-regard or the dignified passion of his emeritus-years nightly digressions into the state of the country

sara otm re: letterman drummers

Jordan, Thursday, 25 September 2008 15:53 (fifteen years ago) link

Letterman has gotten funnier since he's gotten more political. Props to Stewart, maybe, but it's a craft, not a science.

⇧⇧⇧ (libcrypt), Thursday, 25 September 2008 15:55 (fifteen years ago) link

NB: Morbs = ginger nut.

⇧⇧⇧ (libcrypt), Thursday, 25 September 2008 15:56 (fifteen years ago) link

I'm glad you caught them, gabb. So very glad.

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 25 September 2008 15:57 (fifteen years ago) link

This was Letterman's finest moment in years, wtf. That he was pulling it off in his resolutely non-Daily Show format is just icing.

Misunderstood comedy genius or creepy unfunny old man?

nah, too easy

and what, Thursday, 25 September 2008 16:09 (fifteen years ago) link

To be sure, I'm not saying Dave is a great pundit, or that last night represented great political discourse. But that it was compelling TV seems to be beyond dispute.
