I should note that Young Marco killed it at Dekmantel Festival over the weekend. Great vibes and perfect weather as well.

"its like if the band Real Estate were simultaneously more beach AND more gothy" -- me describing horsebeach to a friend

It's not really dance-y, but the new Roisin Murphy mini-lp of Italian covers is super chill and was partially recorded in Ibiza. Recommended. Maybe on more of a sebastien tellier trip but man it's good.

horsebeach type stuff is prob as "indie" as my listening habits get these days, i kinda prefer the embassy to horsebeach but they're both better than the crepes

Just bought the Bar album after reading this Testpressing write up:

http://testpressing.org/2014/09/bar-welcome-to-bar-italic/

Sounding great so far and only £3.86 for the entire album over on Juno if you use the code DANCE20:

You can listen to the whole thing here:

but i am really enjoying the new riton album - eine kleine nacht musik.

this album still works for me, certainly a lot more than the usual riton groove ..

time he made a follow up to this.

Updating to say that after having the LP for a month or so, and listening on Spotify a bunch, this Horsebeach album is def. hitting the top 3 in my Album of the Year list.

There's some great albums on Picadilly Records' Compilations of 2014 list, many of which tick the Balearic box:

http://www.piccadillyrecords.com/counter/feature.php?&feature=736

groovypanda, Tuesday, 25 November 2014 08:14 (nine years ago) link

Couple of pretty awesome comps by Kenneth Bager up on Spotify: Music for Dreams and Balearic Biscuits. Mostly really new stuff - Mark Barrot, an Italian Roisin Murphy jam, Javier Bergia.

Javier Bergia - Eclipse is a proper album, right? Diggin it.

Yoga Knives (Whitey on the Moon), Friday, 5 December 2014 01:51 (nine years ago) link

yeah, i highly appreciate the rec i am fucking loving javier bergia

hug niceman (psychgawsple), Friday, 5 December 2014 03:12 (nine years ago) link

Thought it was a retrospective comp? If that's what you mean by "proper album"...

death in Skegness (seandalai), Friday, 5 December 2014 09:46 (nine years ago) link

Yeah, it's basically a Best Of put together by Emotional Rescue

groovypanda, Friday, 5 December 2014 10:58 (nine years ago) link

four weeks pass...

I've been listening to this tune a lot lately, wondering if it could be classified as "balearic" (a term I still don't fully understand)
