What paper is your interview with? Good luck, I should add.

Stew (stew s), Wednesday, 26 October 2005 23:33 (eighteen years ago) link

What I really hated about that s*n*s*e* post was the guy began "I am writing with reference to Lucy's post". Also, he was a twat. Like a good girl, I kept my response off list.

What paper?

Is anyone else coming out on the 11th? RJG? Alba? I have a possible 11, so will need to know if numbers are to increase further.

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 27 October 2005 06:06 (eighteen years ago) link

A quick google shows that Alan Tyler was the presenter of Trial by Night, which is who I thought you were talking about.

As you were...

Was she just putting that stupidity act on for the telly then, or was she just not a live telly kind of person?

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 27 October 2005 16:04 (eighteen years ago) link

let's talk about that in koshkemeer.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 27 October 2005 16:21 (eighteen years ago) link

Yes, that would be an idea :)

I am looking forward to Koshkemeer. Eating out seems so much more civilised than mere fappage.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 27 October 2005 16:24 (eighteen years ago) link

Oh, just that 'Skinny' thing.

Ally C (Ally C), Thursday, 27 October 2005 23:26 (eighteen years ago) link

The Skinny are interviewing people? I thought it was unpaid?

Stew (stew s), Friday, 28 October 2005 07:41 (eighteen years ago) link

i got an e-mail today from j45per at skinny, oddly enough.

stet and i are going to the relaunch of the cathouse tonight. i hope mädchen is going to come too.

it will hopefully ROCK (\m/) and not SUCK (8==o)

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Friday, 28 October 2005 12:54 (eighteen years ago) link

I'm coming, grimly. I will try not to point and laugh.

Mädchen (Madchen), Friday, 28 October 2005 14:36 (eighteen years ago) link

Yes, he was a dick. It was like the Golden Age of Sinister all over again.

Can I be on the D2D mailing list Ally? Otherwise I will be out of the loop.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller 68), Friday, 28 October 2005 14:52 (eighteen years ago) link

I'll come on the 11th if that's OK. I don't understand this Cathouse prank.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 28 October 2005 15:29 (eighteen years ago) link

ps. who is a dick?
pps. Ally and I are going to Optimo next Sunday (6th Nov). Advance notice. I don't think the band playing looks very good, but you never know. They said that about Van Gogh.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 28 October 2005 15:32 (eighteen years ago) link

I'll come on the 11th if that's OK. I don't understand this Cathouse prank.

yay the 11th. as for the cathouse: as you well know, it's a ROCK CLUB for people who ROCK. or for very sad old men hoping for a glimpse of robert plant squeezing his lemon into some unsuspecting girl's G&T.

somehow i didn't think this would float yr boat, alba.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Friday, 28 October 2005 15:44 (eighteen years ago) link

I was told it was more of a goth club. Do you dress up in PVC and that when you go?

or for very sad old men hoping for a glimpse of robert plant squeezing his lemon into some unsuspecting girl's G&T.

I assume this is some sexual practice I don't know about. Educate me!

Alba (Alba), Friday, 28 October 2005 15:54 (eighteen years ago) link

I used to like the Cathouse years ago. I haven't been for about four or five years, but I bet it hasn't changed much.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 28 October 2005 16:07 (eighteen years ago) link

I like seeing the goths queueing outside the cathouse. It makes me nostalgic.

Cathy (Cathy), Friday, 28 October 2005 16:10 (eighteen years ago) link

Ah, misunderstanding. I am not being interviewed for a job.

A girl at work says the Cathouse at Halloween is where pervy old men go to look at young girls in red pvc outfits. I trust that Madchen will have her boys under some form of control.

PS Yeah, Optimo.
PPS Done, PJ.

Ally C (Ally C), Friday, 28 October 2005 16:40 (eighteen years ago) link

Boys means boobs, yes?

Alba (Alba), Friday, 28 October 2005 16:42 (eighteen years ago) link

It's not Hallowe'en yet though. So no perving tonight. Except at Madchen's out of control boys, obviously.

Paisley will be awash with girls in nasty PVC nurses uniforms like Lesley out of Big Brother this weekend (as it was last year around Hallowe'en time). Possibly exacerbated by the recent opening of a "lingerie" shop in the town centre which sells "sexy" outfits of that nature. I will be avoiding like, well, like I normally avoid Paisley at the weekend.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 28 October 2005 17:04 (eighteen years ago) link

Is it true that they do actually still have the Plague in Paisley?

Alba (Alba), Friday, 28 October 2005 17:10 (eighteen years ago) link

There is a plague of women who think they look attractive in PVC nurses uniforms at least.

Paisley, however, is lovely otherwise (honest) if you stay in the town centre and I repeat my request for you all to come through and eat nice food at Raeburns some time. We can go straight back to Glasgow for pubbage afterwards though.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 28 October 2005 17:12 (eighteen years ago) link

no goths at the cathouse

just the myspace street team

c7n (Cozen), Friday, 28 October 2005 17:18 (eighteen years ago) link

Ally could go there and be fellated.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 28 October 2005 17:21 (eighteen years ago) link

And then chased with an axe.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 28 October 2005 17:21 (eighteen years ago) link

Not again.

Ally C (Ally C), Friday, 28 October 2005 17:31 (eighteen years ago) link

Have dot2cock made a video yet?

Alba (Alba), Friday, 28 October 2005 17:34 (eighteen years ago) link

When you say "Ally could go there" are you talking about paisley or the cathouse?

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 28 October 2005 17:35 (eighteen years ago) link

Oh, I meant the Cathouse.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 28 October 2005 17:37 (eighteen years ago) link

Getting fellated and getting chased by an axe-wielding maniac (as opposed to just an axe) are the sort of things that could happen to him in Paisley too. I was just checking.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 28 October 2005 17:44 (eighteen years ago) link

on a more salubrious note, ailsa: how did you get on with mister charlie chuck, glasgow's leading mountain-climbing editor?

alba: this should enlighten you. pip pip.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Friday, 28 October 2005 18:27 (eighteen years ago) link

Grimly, we are running quite late.

Mädchen (Madchen), Friday, 28 October 2005 19:32 (eighteen years ago) link

I feel quite rough today, for some reason.

Mädchen (Madchen), Saturday, 29 October 2005 12:13 (eighteen years ago) link

Grimly, events overtook me at work and I never got a chance to call him. I'll be doing so on Monday.

Madchen, good, serves you right for texting people at ungodly hours when they are asleep and waking them up by making their phone going beep :)

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 29 October 2005 12:26 (eighteen years ago) link

You mean people don't switch off their phones? Sorry :)

Mädchen (Madchen), Saturday, 29 October 2005 12:36 (eighteen years ago) link

No, I like to have my phone on in case anyone wants to contact me urgently. Like to tell me they are dancing to Bon Jovi :) It's my own fault for being so un-RAWK and being in my bed at midnight.

I might be trying Glasgow more later on today. I tried it last Saturday too, but I had a sore leg and couldn't be bothered walking very far (we got as far as the door of GoMA before I started crying and wanting to go home). We went to Underworld and ate fajitas instead and drank wine until my leg didn't hurt anymore (thus proving it wasn't gout).

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 29 October 2005 12:42 (eighteen years ago) link

Also Madchen, I posted a link to a recipe for pumpkin ice cream (!) to your ILCooking thread. Greatest idea ever! Tomorrow will be spent doing pumpkinny type things chez W as well.

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 29 October 2005 12:46 (eighteen years ago) link

o dere godd. the new Cathouse, btw, is the same as the old one except: the floor's not as sticky, the bouncers shout at you when you jump around, they play mash-ups of Killing in the Name and Mr Boombastic (genius) and they don't give you back yr jacket at the end of the night.

They still give you horrid hangovers tho.

stet (stet), Saturday, 29 October 2005 13:20 (eighteen years ago) link

I don't think the band playing looks very good

i think they look pretty good. whether they sound any good is another matter entirely.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Saturday, 29 October 2005 16:36 (eighteen years ago) link

the bouncers shout at you when you jump around

yes! i'd forgotten about that. it was like the fun police, patrolling the dancefloor and making sure everyone was just doing a gentle polka.

that said, it's the only place i've ever been where the bouncers are more reasonable than the cloakroom staff. what a bunch of hopeless mooks.

rocking night, though.
