GRARRRRRRGH!

'arry Goldman (Hurting 2), Monday, 4 August 2014 14:29 (nine years ago) link

Just FYI, "Times of Israel" is apparently not an Israeli newspaper, it's just a blog site.

'arry Goldman (Hurting 2), Monday, 4 August 2014 14:31 (nine years ago) link

?? wikipedia says its headquarters is in Jerusalem

een, Monday, 4 August 2014 14:59 (nine years ago) link

oh duh you mean blog vs. newspaper

een, Monday, 4 August 2014 15:00 (nine years ago) link

hah okay if it's just a blog then that's not quite so egregious, but even so...

Barry Gordy (Neil S), Monday, 4 August 2014 15:06 (nine years ago) link

I guess anyway it's a relatively new site? Wiki claims 2 million readers so maybe it's bigger than I thought. I think it's sort of a Huffington Post style site.

'arry Goldman (Hurting 2), Monday, 4 August 2014 15:09 (nine years ago) link

I mean, whatever it is, that's the third time this week I have seen something just mind-bogglingly offensive and un-self-aware on the site, this one being by far the least egregious.

'arry Goldman (Hurting 2), Monday, 4 August 2014 15:10 (nine years ago) link

wow if that article is the least bad, I dread to think what other stuff it's coming up with

Barry Gordy (Neil S), Monday, 4 August 2014 15:15 (nine years ago) link

They republished (but almost immediately took down) a piece from a small long island jewish paper posing the "question" of genocide in Gaza. Then another piece appeared in which a blogger likened the Palestinians to the Amalekites (which can be read based on the bible as a coded way of saying they should be wiped out).

http://pitchfork.com/thepitch/234-sun-kil-moon-benji-glossary/

Though the musical components of Sun Kil Moon’s Benji rarely amount to more than Mark Kozelek’s voice and acoustic guitar, its lyrical universe is incomparably vast, spanning countries and decades, populated by dead relatives, high school friends, indie-rock peers, serial killers, and corporate-franchised eateries alike. Like the catalog of samples heard on the Beastie Boys’ Paul’s Boutique, the production credits on Yeezus, or the movie-credits-length list of people who’ve played in the Fall, a supplementary directory of references is required to fully appreciate its magnitude.

Mark Kozelek’s mom: She’s 75, and the closest friend Kozelek has.
Scrabble: A classic board game that Mark Kozelek likes to play with his mom.

Domino’s: The preferred pizza provider for Kozelek and his cousins when staying over at his aunt and uncle’s.
Happy Days: Comedy series created by Garry Marshall that aired on ABC from 1974-84. A favorite among the Kozelek clan.

KFC: a.k.a. Kentucky Fried Chicken—the fast food of choice served at the funeral for Kozelek’s uncle (“and that’s how he would’ve wanted it”).

The Doors: L.A. classic-rock icons who can be found in Jim Wise’s record collection.
Stevie Nicks: Ditto.

Maybe Clickhole rather than Onion proper here.
