SEEMS TO ME (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 31 August 2014 20:29 (nine years ago) link

A friend is now at 13 weeks and has mad uterine polyps, 10cm/4 inches long, so many of them that they're forming "a pillow" for the baby and making her look about 6 months pregnant. She is not best pleased.

holy shit

SEEMS TO ME (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 3 September 2014 03:04 (nine years ago) link

woah
About 2 days ago I was going to post that I am being uncharactistically zen about the whole thing but... I can no longer tell a lie

Anyway I learned all about breastfeeding today and the midwife, while very lovely, reminded me exactly of Dawn French on Psychoville (in appearance only I should add)

uugh rrobyn the pain was manageable until about last week and now this is the second occasion where I literally can't walk anywhere, can barely move. I drove to work today then felt dodgy so drove back and that was bad enough. Can't get physio until next week and they are the ones who'd give me crutches, support belt etc.

kinder, Monday, 8 September 2014 13:16 (nine years ago) link

Oh aagh, it's really awful, I know! The pain has subsided a lot for me in the past few days, amazingly, not sure why but prob because baby is moving down - I'm almost 39 weeks, after all... I had thought about ordering a support belt on amazon earlier, since they seemed to have a wider and less expensive selection than the drugstore, and delivery is fast - maybe a good idea, to see if it works?

three weeks pass...

i gave birth to this amazing baby two weeks ago! pregnancy was hard, taking care of baby is hard but in a much more fun/weird way. (and yaay the hip pain went away in the week before labour began and save for a bit of lingering fascia twinges, my hip feels fine!)

whoops.
well, he was 9.08 lbs! (birthed by unplanned c-section in the end, preceded by 12 hours of natural labour with midwives... my mind has kind of blurred all that. it was an Experience.)

Good baby.

Our new baby is already at 6 oz and it's still two months til the due date, she's gonna be huge too.

Pregnancy has made me one of *those* kinds of SQUEE BABIES ladies
Congratulations!!! I was wondering about you & bebe

kinder, Thursday, 9 October 2014 17:31 (nine years ago) link

Ha, me, too. I'm a squee children kind of lady now.

And as I have been discussing with a friend, it has also rendered me incapable of watching horror movies in which kids are in danger or suffer any kind of trauma, including contracting an illness that turns them into evil killer children.

carl agatha, Thursday, 9 October 2014 17:51 (nine years ago) link

Have you watched "Under the Skin" yet? There was a scene in there that was very divisive between parents and non-parents about how disturbing it was, at least in the ILX thread discussion. (Great movie though).

Immediate Follower (NA), Thursday, 9 October 2014 18:02 (nine years ago) link

yeah - it really threw me how awful it was. (I was pregnant, not a parent so I guess smacked me with reality of dependency on parents etc)

kinder, Thursday, 9 October 2014 18:13 (nine years ago) link

No, I haven't seen it.

carl agatha, Thursday, 9 October 2014 18:35 (nine years ago) link

Don't do it! Very distressing!

ornamental cabbage (James Morrison), Friday, 10 October 2014 02:51 (nine years ago) link

I was distressed and I have no kids!

⌘-B (mh), Friday, 10 October 2014 12:23 (nine years ago) link

Okay I won't see it! But some kind soul should link the thread (on Zing and can't search) so I can see what the upsetting part is.

the final twilight of all evaluative standpoints (nakhchivan), Friday, 10 October 2014 13:18 (nine years ago) link

I mean, I really liked the film, but I got the feeling some other people in that thread thought that scene was ridiculous or almost funny? xp

⌘-B (mh), Friday, 10 October 2014 13:19 (nine years ago) link

Well there was the one person who called it hilarious...

Yeah that sounds like it would be a bit much for me. Also all of the comparisons to Tarkovsky, my feelings about whom are best expressed by rolling my eyes really hard.

carl agatha, Friday, 10 October 2014 13:22 (nine years ago) link

It was a good movie and I didn't have a strong reaction to the scene either way but i can understand why people would
congrats rrobyn -- your baby has a very dignified face

It took me like half the day to figure out what you were talking about. I meant 6 lbs, not 6 oz.

Immediate Follower (NA), Tuesday, 14 October 2014 19:46 (nine years ago) link

I had a dream that you told me what you named Baby 2 and it had four letters and ended in an -a but was a nonsense word like Fula or Gara or something. Anyway, if you haven't selected a name for this child, might I recommend Fula.

carl agatha, Tuesday, 14 October 2014 19:50 (nine years ago) link

I just figured out this morning that I'm coming up on the year anniversary of checking myself into the hospital for my medically supervised confinement.

carl agatha, Tuesday, 14 October 2014 19:51 (nine years ago) link

Our birth mom is due in 4 weeks and it's seriously freaking me out. At any time now we have to be ready to drop everything and set up camp 75 miles away for a couple days while going through all sorts of craziness involving her and her girlfriend, her family, the hospital, and the adoption agency and I have no basis for comparison for any of this.

I missed that too. I was just like "man, I guess it's been a while since I had this baby. I don't even remember all the numbers I'm supposed to know."

how's life, Tuesday, 14 October 2014 21:46 (nine years ago) link

three weeks pass...

How's it going rrobyn?
also I know sick mouthy has not long to go...

kinder, Thursday, 6 November 2014 14:39 (nine years ago) link

It's going well! Almost 7 weeks! He went through a serious crying spell this week but it's calming down, phew (more to come of course...). We read Happiest Baby on the Block, which is helpful re: newborn crying/colic.

My body is readjusting slowly, and I get pain in hip, lower back, shoulders but it's normal apparently and lessening each week. My body does feel put through the ringer tbh, but I was in good shape before I got pregnant and shouldn't compare them to now. I'm prob going to see an osteopath though and will ease back into walking and yoga. I think I'll be on rock climbing hiatus for a while, though the woman who co-runs the bouldering gym I used to go to just had a baby so maybe we'll figure out some shared baby care there one day!

that Bay sleeper was the first gift i received for the baby, when i was only about 4 months pregnant - my hair stylist friend said he couldn't resist (he also recently bought him a tot-sized Gautier t-shirt, ha!). and the lambskin was given by a friend of my bf's who makes leather goods out east - pretty swanky!

but enough about us - i'm not even pregnant for the pregnancy commiseration thread! How are you doing, kinder?? You're close! I hope you're getting to rest a lot. Looking back at things, I seriously wonder why the hell I was doing work less than a week before i went into labour - my body was not happy and my brain was seriously struggling - maybe i was in some kind of weird denial about my abilities, haha, yeah probably.

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Sunday, 9 November 2014 14:19 (nine years ago) link
