I like to be able to tell time from my watches.

Jeff, Friday, 12 September 2014 00:49 (nine years ago) link

What's funny and cool and deflating is that you see a watch like that and you wonder if it's on youtube

And it is http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Omega+De+Ville+Tourbillon

Bam some of the mystique is lost

what is the history of finding tech creepy?

plax (ico), Friday, 12 September 2014 00:50 (nine years ago) link

Like imagine you bought a cool ten thousand dollar omega watch and then you go online and there's some guy named Archie telling you what's cool about your watch that he also owns

haaa wait it doesnt have gps??? http://readwrite.com/2014/09/11/apple-watch-no-gps-no-thanks

lag∞n, Friday, 12 September 2014 00:53 (nine years ago) link

Well you'd be using it with your IPHONE which already has GPS

GPS is such a huge battery drainer regardless

, Friday, 12 September 2014 00:56 (nine years ago) link

its basically useless as an exercize watch

lag∞n, Friday, 12 September 2014 01:10 (nine years ago) link

Yeah like who wants to run 10k with a big heavy piece of 18k gold on their left wrist?

I'm gonna spend $350 so that a watch can tell me when to stand up?

, Friday, 12 September 2014 01:13 (nine years ago) link

Probably most damning to me is that this was a brilliant opportunity to advance the field of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teledildonics

But they stopped at just transmitting a heartbeat

, Friday, 12 September 2014 01:17 (nine years ago) link

skeleton watches are way ugly, it's true

call all destroyer, Friday, 12 September 2014 01:19 (nine years ago) link

yeah you would not actually want GPS in the watch itself, the battery would be gone in 35 minutes

(also known as "cyberdildonics")

lag∞n, Friday, 12 September 2014 01:20 (nine years ago) link

uh just fyi all the smart guys itt i have a gps watch and the charge last a lot longer than 35mins, what u def dont want to do is have yr big ass phone on u while your running, hence the watch

lag∞n, Friday, 12 September 2014 01:21 (nine years ago) link

Hm

Using the GPS on my iPhone is the quickest way to kill the battery ime

Even moreso than LTE

, Friday, 12 September 2014 01:23 (nine years ago) link

basically the number one thing i like about running is not taking anything electronic with me

call all destroyer, Friday, 12 September 2014 01:24 (nine years ago) link

I'm gonna get the watch, share my heartbeat with my family members, spend a month doing office work, and then one afternoon burst into jumping jacks for ten hard minutes before ripping the watch away from my wrist.

Whoever calls the front desk first will earn my assets upon my eventual actual death.

pplains, Friday, 12 September 2014 01:25 (nine years ago) link

sadly the heartbeat sharing is only momentary/on-demand, not a constant feed

Spirit of Match Game '76 (silby), Friday, 12 September 2014 01:27 (nine years ago) link

running watch battery is @ 77% and ive run for ~90mins since i charged it a couple days ago

lag∞n, Friday, 12 September 2014 02:07 (nine years ago) link

Replace the ring with a watch and the pillow with bono's face, and I think we'd have something here.

pplains, Friday, 12 September 2014 02:19 (nine years ago) link

put on the ring and bono shows up to spoon yr girl

lag∞n, Friday, 12 September 2014 02:22 (nine years ago) link

when my lover smothers bono with their pillow, my face will light up

it's not for ios, but as an exercise i'm trying to make a simple osx music player. what features would you guys want?

I really really want a player that makes a distinction between complete albums and those where I just have a few tracks from the album

I always wanted iTunes to count a 'play' as any song you get more than 5 seconds into.

Bringing the mosh (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Friday, 12 September 2014 15:50 (nine years ago) link

why?? if anything a 5-second play should count as negative one, it should subtract a play

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Friday, 12 September 2014 15:58 (nine years ago) link

wouldn't mind being able to set the threshold for how long you have to listen to a song before it counts as a play... it definitely shouldn't require getting to the very end of the track. but then it might not right now, I don't know.

erry red flag (f. hazel), Friday, 12 September 2014 16:00 (nine years ago) link

5 seconds is short but maybe half the length of the track or something - in the digital era (before I stopped listening to music via iTunes) it wasn't uncommon for me to barely make it through half a song before moving to the next one.

Kiarostami bag (milo z), Friday, 12 September 2014 16:02 (nine years ago) link

Tried to order one today, the store's ordering computers crashed before I could place it. Wonderful!

Nhex, Friday, 12 September 2014 18:17 (nine years ago) link

Ordered two 6's at 2 AM this morning. Kind of sucked to wake up at two and spend over $700, but YOLO.

Jeff, Friday, 12 September 2014 18:33 (nine years ago) link

I think I'm going to take advantage of my friend's long-running scheme of having all of his extended family on his verizon plan, and then making the old people keep the same phone for years.
