Would some nice Glasgow person Try & record this for Moore, please?

"The Music Show programme B&S filmed for the other week starts this Friday November 4th on BBC Two Scotland. It airs between 11.35pm and 12.05am and one of the new B&S tracks will be on it, so tune in!"

Video would be nice, DVD even nicer :)

Thanks!

If Glasgow can be bothered, Dead City Radio will be appearing in Nice and Sleazy around 9pm ce soir.

scotstvo (scotstvo), Wednesday, 2 November 2005 17:17 (eighteen years ago) link

You should have appeared at around 11 pm last night. We'd have seen you then :)

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 2 November 2005 18:04 (eighteen years ago) link

Why, what happened?

scotstvo (scotstvo), Thursday, 3 November 2005 08:30 (eighteen years ago) link

We were in Nice'n'Sleazy on Tueday. Well, me, Madchen and Ally C were at any rate. And we would have seen you. Whereas I didn't see you last night because I wasn't there. Having spent all my money being out the night before. Do you see?

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 3 November 2005 18:13 (eighteen years ago) link

Alles klar!

scotstvo (scotstvo), Thursday, 3 November 2005 18:59 (eighteen years ago) link

Also, I'm not going to the Scotland game because I'm spending all my money on Belle and Sebastian tickets instead. And they don't show Belle and Sebastian live on the telly, so they win.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 3 November 2005 19:02 (eighteen years ago) link

£18.50 + booking fee? They can piss off. Sell outs!

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 3 November 2005 19:03 (eighteen years ago) link

AND you need the secret password. Pfft. I bought tickets for the third night, anyway.

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 3 November 2005 19:07 (eighteen years ago) link

Me too (the third night tickets - I had briefly entertained the idea of going to all three before I saw the ticket prices and my bank balance). I was also debating shunning the three-gig-Glasgow-extravaganza altogether in favour of a trip to sunny Hammersmith, but decided that would be foolish. Though I may yet change my mind before the night is out.

I think the first time I saw B&S it was about £5 a ticket. How times have changed.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 3 November 2005 19:29 (eighteen years ago) link

The first time I saw B&S they paid ME to see them.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 3 November 2005 19:47 (eighteen years ago) link

For £18.50 + booking fee, I'd want to see all four Beatles.

I'm spending all my money on Belle and Sebastian tickets instead. And they don't show Belle and Sebastian live on the telly, so they win.

Maybe the SFA are missing a trick here and should sack their usual half time entertainment in favour of lilting West-End balladry. That'd get the indie kids in.

scotstvo (scotstvo), Thursday, 3 November 2005 20:06 (eighteen years ago) link

Shameless plug - I'm guest DJ at Pin Ups at the Woody tomorrow night, should anyone care to drop by. :)

Stew (stew s), Thursday, 3 November 2005 21:28 (eighteen years ago) link

That is very expensive!

PJ Miller (PJ Miller 68), Friday, 4 November 2005 09:06 (eighteen years ago) link

AND, some of the agencies are sticking nearly £5 quid postage on top of the booking fee!

Oops, I just realised that you meant Ailsa's £5 ...

Mooro (Mooro), Friday, 4 November 2005 10:51 (eighteen years ago) link

I suppose it is to subsidise the press pack in London, which usually makes up about half the crowd.

£5 postage! They're having a laugh!

PJ Miller (PJ Miller 68), Friday, 4 November 2005 11:22 (eighteen years ago) link

too much

RJG (RJG), Friday, 4 November 2005 11:56 (eighteen years ago) link

Way too much.

I would like to go, though.

I doubt I will be going. But you never know.

Ally C (Ally C), Sunday, 6 November 2005 18:20 (eighteen years ago) link

I doubt I will be going and you always know

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 6 November 2005 18:39 (eighteen years ago) link

£5 postage! They're having a laugh!

I think you'll find that should be a 'giraffe', now that you're a proper metrosexual. I mean, you have taken to using 'Magnus', etc.

Mooro (Mooro), Sunday, 6 November 2005 20:24 (eighteen years ago) link

Top Poptimo tonight! My first in 6 months or so, a real treat. Blondie, The Meters, Kraftwerk, Chris Isaak and the usual pretty beats. Plus a chilly fire alarm. And the band weren't bad. Hot singer/bassist. I'm going to sleep happy. Thanks, K.

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 7 November 2005 05:51 (eighteen years ago) link

Ally, try sleeping more!

KeefW (kmw), Monday, 7 November 2005 08:30 (eighteen years ago) link

I did.

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 7 November 2005 16:14 (eighteen years ago) link

Can I transfer my invitation from the previous fap/dinner, which I did not accept, to the coming fap/dinner? Apologies for the late notice. I have not had internet in my flat until today and the firewall at the library had an issue with the content of this thread.

sweet. Would anyone object if I invited David & Lorna?

hmmm (hmmm), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 13:27 (eighteen years ago) link

I just had a larry david moment:
the other day I went into pret and bought a sandwich and a coffee. I bought off this cute, enthusiastic eastern european girl who is usually very cheery. as she was reading out my order I laughed a little because I thought her accent was cute. she looked at me then resumed my order but was impercebtibly more curt. today I go in to nab a coffee on my way back to work, black americano as usual. the guy taking my order says something to the girl beside him and then shouts 'black americano' and turns back to talk to the eastern european girl who is making the coffee today. as she's completing making the coffee she dabs some milk into my cup and hands it to the guy, saying 'black americano'. the guy says 'black americano', smirks, and I leave. I get back to the office and only then realise that the dab of milk was going into my cup and not some other. now I'm left sitting here with my milky coffee and this story. I can picture larry's face had it happened to him.

soul provider (Cozen), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 13:48 (eighteen years ago) link

I don't get it. Do you think she's racist?

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 13:50 (eighteen years ago) link

Actually, this sounds like the ravings of someone suffering from schizophrenia, or high on pot. Have you sent your stolen O.C. DVDs back yet?

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 13:53 (eighteen years ago) link

she thought I was laughing at her for not speaking english well

soul provider (Cozen), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 14:13 (eighteen years ago) link

Yes, I understood really. Next time you see me though, I want to hear you bark "Black Americano" and see if it turns me against you.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 14:17 (eighteen years ago) link

maybe she put pot in the milk

soul provider (Cozen), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 14:17 (eighteen years ago) link

"I will show zis laughing racist!"

soul provider (Cozen), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 14:17 (eighteen years ago) link

I once made a tape for a girlfriend and called it Soul Provider.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 14:18 (eighteen years ago) link

I've only just twigged that it's a pun.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 14:23 (eighteen years ago) link

Oi oi. Let's do a new list for Friday:

1. Me
2. Stet
3. Grimly
4. Ally C
5. Ailsa
6. Mr Ailsa
7. Stew
8. Alba
9. HmmOnimo (?)
10. Scotsvo (?)
11. Dave (?)
12. Lorna (?)

I'll need to know if the (?) people are coming or not pretty soon so I can phone up and change the booking if necessary. Anybody else to add to the list?

The table is booked for 8pm so shall those of us not already Southside (yeah) meet in town for a drink first and then pile into taxis?

Mädchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 14:37 (eighteen years ago) link

Health update: Stet has caught it.

Mädchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 14:38 (eighteen years ago) link

I'll speak to David tonight and will post as soon as I have a definite answer. Meeting beforehand sounds good as I'm still getting my bearings.

hmmm (hmmm), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 14:51 (eighteen years ago) link

I am uhming and ahing; I might go now : /

soul provider (Cozen), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 14:53 (eighteen years ago) link

soul provider (Cozen), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 14:53 (eighteen years ago) link

Okey dokey.

Mädchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 14:57 (eighteen years ago) link

Health update: Stet has caught it.

the big wuss :)

re friday: i'll be at the restaurant for 8pm. mädchen: don't let stet do his usual trick of being three hours late. and hmmm - looking forward to seeing you again after all these years!

actually, looking at that list: the HmmOnimo dual-headed monster sounds scary.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:00 (eighteen years ago) link

Where are we meeting in town for a non-southsider drink?

Stew (stew s), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 18:17 (eighteen years ago) link

Just spoke to David. He can't confirm either way until tomorrow I'm afraid.

I'm not bothered where we meet for drinks. Ideally, it would be somewhere good that I haven't been before and would preferably be towards the west end but I really don't mind if it's not.

hmmm (hmmm), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 19:38 (eighteen years ago) link

Cozen is in real trouble.

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 19:45 (eighteen years ago) link

would preferably be towards the west end

noooo! you'll all be late enough as it is ;)

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 20:04 (eighteen years ago) link

I think Grimly has a point and we should stick to the city centre, or maybe the Merchant City?
