I've listened to a lot of Andras Fox this year - he's released a load of stuff in a pretty short time.
This came out last week:

thx for Tornado Wallace ref, Circadia EP is excellent.
And indeed surprisingly familiar Studio vibes at times.

There's some great albums on Picadilly Records' Compilations of 2014 list, many of which tick the Balearic box:

― groovypanda, Tuesday, 25 November 2014 08:14 (nine years ago) link
Couple of pretty awesome comps by Kenneth Bager up on Spotify: Music for Dreams and Balearic Biscuits. Mostly really new stuff - Mark Barrot, an Italian Roisin Murphy jam, Javier Bergia.
Javier Bergia - Eclipse is a proper album, right? Diggin it.

yeah, i highly appreciate the rec i am fucking loving javier bergia
― hug niceman (psychgawsple), Friday, 5 December 2014 03:12 (nine years ago) link
Thought it was a retrospective comp? If that's what you mean by "proper album"...
― death in Skegness (seandalai), Friday, 5 December 2014 09:46 (nine years ago) link
Yeah, it's basically a Best Of put together by Emotional Rescue
― groovypanda, Friday, 5 December 2014 10:58 (nine years ago) link
I've been listening to this tune a lot lately, wondering if it could be classified as "balearic" (a term I still don't fully understand)

I second the praise for Gaussian Curve. Very good album. Feels a bit short, don't know the actual run time, but I wonder if they have extra material that didn't make this album.

"impossible island" is gorgeous wow. is that record only out on lp?
― dyl, Friday, 9 January 2015 19:49 (nine years ago) link
Yeah, the GC album is available only on lp at this time. But it's encouraging to see that the Gigi Masin and Joan Bibiloni comps are reappearing as expanded CD editions.

the latest dream chimney mix is really good too - starts off with a lot of jazz, then more balearic as it goes on:

not sure if there's anyone who only reads this thread but not bobbins, but the vakula album definitely gets into some heavy balearic and new age vibes, and it's pretty much excellent all the way through.

― karl...arlk...rlka...lkar..., Thursday, 19 February 2015 19:44 (nine years ago) link
ah yes, i'm just joking about blogging - just good to place things here now and again, my job at the moment allows a lot of listening to music - there is a process where some things don't make the grade for the effort of a copy and paste here, quality control still exists.
― Moyes Enthusiast (LocalGarda), Thursday, 19 February 2015 20:06 (nine years ago) link
Was laughing my head off when the Vakula album goes full-on Santana / Bongo Brothers / Ozric Tentacles(!) Great sound. There's actually only one House per-se track on it (which works great as an early build up) and I wonder if people will miss it if they're expecting more of that sort of thing. It's a proper ludicrous space-rock / cosmic disco epic as they used to be made. Almost reminds me of AR & Machines' Echo or something, with that artwork as well. Very Orbular on a couple of tracks as well. Probably makes more sense on CD but I want the triple gatefold just because that's the proper way to do these things isn't it.
