Almost voted for Steve tbh but, perhaps unfairly, held some Humble Pie excesses against him.

I'm a huge Small Faces fan, and that's the first of the reformed lineup I've seen. That's some depressing shit. Lane's non-participation should've told them something: he desperately needed the money more than the others, and still begged off.

Yeah, very depressing... Marriott in particular is an absolute mess at this stage, and I just get the impression that the band don't really want to be doing the Small Faces thing. I tend to pretend that the Small Faces split up for good in the late '60s and never reformed.

Yeah, I remember that performance, I don't need to see it again.
They always said they'd never play "Sha lalala lee" again, but.
Still though, there's a decent LP worth if you cherry pick those last two LPs.

I can't say that "Sha La La La Lee" is anywhere near one of my favourite things they ever did, but I still enjoy it all the same. There's a ferocity to the playing and Marriott's vocal which makes it rise above a lot of '60s teenybop fare in my opinion.

Yeah, those records/that reunion has largely been written out of their history. The recent box doesn't even mention those records, I think.
