lag∞n, Saturday, 15 November 2014 00:40 (nine years ago) link

he doesn't drive enough and isn't v good at selling contact. also he kinda has a reputation for never getting to the line and perception plays into this stuff a lot.

Yup.

Melo has been great a few games in a row though. Too bad he has so little help, actually warming to him a lot lately.

Lakers' 114.7 defensive rating is the worst mark through 10 games since the NBA started tracking it in 1997.

as of right now, the only metrics brow isn't top 5 in are assists and FG% - he doesn't make top 40 in assists but is 9 in FG percentage w/.579

#3 in points (25.2 per game) and rebounds (11.7), #1 in blocks and steals (4.00 and 2.33)

xp sure enough, JR Smith was the weak link (among players you could even expect anything from) last night, although he did hit a pretty clutch 3 toward the end (and then miss the next one, iirc).

Anthony Davis has only committed 14 turnovers in 11 games. Not much (any?) precedent for such high usage/PER/low turnover rate.

wiggy's got some moves. I keep forgetting he's only 19, def has room to become a great.

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 25 November 2014 17:05 (nine years ago) link

he looks effortless out there gliding around floating up threes like hes shooting a foul shot, good stuff

lag∞n, Tuesday, 25 November 2014 17:09 (nine years ago) link

he has a little bit of that weightless MJ quality, very springy

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 25 November 2014 17:13 (nine years ago) link

jordan was very forceful, also smaller, im thinking more like grant hill

lag∞n, Tuesday, 25 November 2014 17:15 (nine years ago) link

yeah MJ was def stronger/more aggressive in his rookie year, but tbf he was two years older. Anyway not trying to build him up to be the next MJ, just see a lightness in his movement that reminded me a little of MJ.

you mean michael jordan the greatest basketball player ever

from the grantland NBA shootaround:

The Knicks and the Lakers are nos. 1 and 2 (as of Monday) in percentage of field goal attempts taken from 16 feet to inside the 3-point line — i.e., the much-maligned long 2 — 29.5 percent for the Knicks, 25.6 percent for the Lakers.

Both teams are in the bottom third of the league in percentage of attempts that are 3-pointers, an especially weird stat for the Knicks, who are shooting a league-leading 40 percent from beyond the arc.

aaaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaa

hanley ramirez ordering a pizza (slothroprhymes), Wednesday, 26 November 2014 17:28 (nine years ago) link

weird, they are? I feel like they don't take many 3's when I watch them.

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Wednesday, 26 November 2014 17:32 (nine years ago) link

And I'm right, they are 23rd in 3PA. So I feel like that stat is probably the result of them having a lot of randos who can neither shoot 3's nor drive just running in and chucking up long 2's.
