I love you

The Complainte of Ray Tabano, Wednesday, 26 November 2014 21:15 (nine years ago) link

it's one of the only things he loves and will be totally sincere about it. also The Cure. but anything else will be reduced to rich kid posturing accordingly

hackshaw, Wednesday, 26 November 2014 21:17 (nine years ago) link

huh. interesting. it sure can be beautiful sometimes & it involves an aesthetic that i imagine is attractive to a purity/integrity/DIY obsessed shitbiscuit like him

Evan, Wednesday, 26 November 2014 21:39 (nine years ago) link

hackshaw, Wednesday, 26 November 2014 21:44 (nine years ago) link

havent listened to be quite honest, i knew they went under the obscure column of shoegaze bands as opposed to MBV and ride tho

i might do a deep dive on the genre, i have quite a bit of vacation time coming up

hanley ramirez ordering a pizza (slothroprhymes), Wednesday, 26 November 2014 21:45 (nine years ago) link

if you've heard mbv you will go to your grave no poorer if you just stop there

The Complainte of Ray Tabano, Wednesday, 26 November 2014 21:48 (nine years ago) link

do not listen to Ray Tabano, when it comes to shoegaze-type music he is totally insane

the farakhan of gg (DJP), Wednesday, 26 November 2014 21:58 (nine years ago) link

Ride is just as good as mbv

You're the one for me, Otty.

Junior Dadaismus (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 27 November 2014 01:29 (nine years ago) link

Moose are one of the reasons i found this board and here i still am around seven years and 10,000 posts later. they only started as a shoegaze band with their first three EP's (aka Sonny & Sam EP). by the time their first album ...XYZ come out they were completely different band. they actually got better by mellowing out with "Honey Bee" and Live A Little, Love A Lot both being outstanding albums.

hanley ramirez ordering a pizza (slothroprhymes), Thursday, 27 November 2014 02:47 (nine years ago) link

Yeah ...XYZ is my favorite. One of my favorite records in the genre!

He's referring to this article, I believe: http://noisey.vice.com/blog/andrew-rinehart-you-cant-break-my-heart-pretty-people-make-graves-music-video-premiere

Will they look back with appreciation and say, "Thank God for that Ott guy in 2014 who headed off that loss of freedom, who kept us now 100 years later free, who kept our genre from selling out"?

And if we failed, they probably won't get to read the tweets at all because they spoke of indie rock, and they won't be allowed to talk of that or read of it.

ancient texts, things that can't be pre-dated (President Keyes), Wednesday, 10 December 2014 02:35 (nine years ago) link

i mean, the narrative that the pitchfork piece is putting out is basically "dude was an aspiring money-hungry L.A. session dude who failed, and now, two years later, wants to be indie rock I guess"

Like idgaf about this guy, but can you blame ott for not seeing this as the sympathetic story of rags-to-RSSches it's supposed to be, idk?

RSSches

smh

mookieproof, Wednesday, 10 December 2014 02:48 (nine years ago) link

i dunno, what kind of background does he need to be a real indie-rocker?

he would've tried to cover his tracks if he wanted to be a REAL INDIE ROCKER. the dude is putting himself out there. that doesn't warrant comments about his dead mom as sort of ponzi scheme for success
