I spent this morning watching all of the Meet the Queens so you don't have to!

Ginger Minj: "Cross-dresser for Christ" shtick that will wear off quickly but will be enjoyable enough while it lasts.
Jaidynn Diore Fierce: v typical but depth-lacking "what honey sass mama WORK!" queen, seems friendly but straight out of central casting
Jasmine Masters: jaw-droppingly inept; answers every interview question with a direct one-word answer. Clearly brought on for filler as there is NOTHING discernibly interesting abt her
Kandy Ho: Kandy Ho is from Puerto Rico; you know this because, in addition to "I'm from Puerto Rico", they've put zany Latin music across the whole segment.
Katya: her look is like rich Russian woman and she's really clever. I'm anticipating Willam comparisons (she even threw in an incest joke for good measure). Certainly one of the more potentially interesting ones
Kennedy Davenport: the spacey Southern queen who might surprise everyone w/ her covert wit. She's subdued but charming and I anticipate having a lot of fun watching her
Max: Max is trying very hard to let you know that she is FUNNY and WEIRD and UNIQUE by dressing like an old woman; she wears lace and talks like she's on Downton Abbey and tells very forced jokes and it's all tedious and unrelenting. I cannot wait to see her sent home.
Miss Fame: "I came up with my drag name because I'm a pretty spiritual person and I read the book The Secret" and then namedrops Naomi Campbell and Karen Mulder. This one's going to be good.
Mrs. Kasha Davis: middle-aged queens wears sequins, references Liza Minelli and boxed wine zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Pearl: sedate valley-girl punkish type who might be good but might be a really empty "edgy queen"
Sasha Belle: rockin' Southern belle, or something.
Tempest DuJour: thee-uh-tuhh queen with "weird" hair who's going to make us all yawn a lot prob
Trixie Mattel: i've run out of things to say about any of these people
Violet Chachki: idk whatever i don't hate her

Santino is out, and Carson Kressley and Ross Matthews are in as permanent new additions to the judges panel.

Debut is March 2. My birthday! How kind of them.

i am too tired to stay up & watch untucked online tho, will catch up tomorrow

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 3 March 2015 06:14 (nine years ago) link

good cast though
that max is kinda interesting! violet chachki is fun to watch but idk personality wise she seems a bit dead in the water

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 3 March 2015 06:15 (nine years ago) link

I'm kind of still getting them all mixed up, especially the young fishy ones. The ones that stand out for me so far are Max and Katya.

I'm glad we're getting Untucked on TV right after the episode here in Canada. It's an integral part of the show for me (although this particular one was boring. I'm not sure I like how they are doing it this Season.)

LeRooLeRoo, Tuesday, 3 March 2015 16:33 (nine years ago) link

i was annoyed that they blurred the bodies, made it harder to tell how crappy the paintjobs really were

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 3 March 2015 17:42 (nine years ago) link

Yeah that was really dumb. Blurring fake nudity? Ugh.
At least we got to see what they looked like on Untucked. Especially Ginger lol!

LeRooLeRoo, Tuesday, 3 March 2015 18:44 (nine years ago) link

Delays delays, ONLY just got around to seeing the episode. (Ending up crashing out last night, just too tired from my birthday weekend.) Liked the change up for the opening challenge and how Alaska was just...there. Because why not!

I suppose they couldn't do what they did last season and break things up initially without ruining the surprise, but it did feel a little rushed this time around, especially since we only got an hour long episode instead of the older hour and a half season starters. Maybe next week will cause things to settle a bit.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 01:55 (nine years ago) link

Alaska was (brilliantly) impersonating Anna Wintour!

I rewatched the episode and it was better this time around because I could remember who was who. There were just to many new faces yesterday.
After seeing it again, I thought they got the bottom two wrong. For me it should have been Jasmine and her cocoon vs Sasha and her not understanding the assignment.
But I think the producers chose to have Tempest and Kandy lipsynch to continue the drama they had going since the very beginning of the episode. I'm surprised miss Ho's ageism was Ruwarded with a win.

LeRooLeRoo, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 04:29 (nine years ago) link

god Sasha was horrible

she looked like me walking out on the runway in my spanx

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 4 March 2015 04:41 (nine years ago) link

Yeah a second watch should help things sink in a bit more. Was catching up on the various web clips and things now, Pandora B in full effect as always...

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 04:54 (nine years ago) link

And having seen the Untucked now...hmm. It IS all different. I kinda liked seeing more of the whole behind-the-scenes in general -- like, the actual reverse side of the workroom doors, who knew! And the basic couch format is okay enough though I do miss the Ru shrines and all, plus no peekaboo moments as well, I guess.

Strange, though, how the whole episode felt very...almost elegaic. More restrained and almost melancholy in its shooting and editing, but also in the discussions. It wasn't sold as bitchy backstage drama, it's a bit of a sharp turn. But maybe that was the whole point, that they'd reached a limit?

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 05:31 (nine years ago) link

Anyway, Raja and Raven back with the Ruviews tomorrow!

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 05:32 (nine years ago) link

Yeah, the split premiere, for its faults, really let you get to know the contestants, and I'm still trying to remember who gave birth in their Werq Room entrance, who said they had a body of an Irish rock climber, etc.

I was surprised with Max -- flat/shallow personality judging from her MTQ video, but her looks were so far out of the box that there was plenty of room for Shangela in there. But I think she's going to be a more clueless April.

Pearl's entrance was my favorite.

Some of these girls are cinched to the gawds. Damn!

Romo... ROMO! Bring Back Sergio Romo! (Leee), Wednesday, 4 March 2015 05:54 (nine years ago) link

I loved Max's resort retiree with the crutches, that was all up in some Sharon Needles steez, so awesome
