The funniest thing about that article (x-post) is that the author is solely concerned with technical image quality rather than the utter bankruptcy of content and human feeling in the examples. Kind of a mounting hilarity as it becomes apparent that lossy compression might not be the main problem.

I had a friend complain that Facebook used the last photo of her cat, taken at the vet right before having it put to sleep, as her "look at your awesome year!" cover photo but that's immeasurably more awful.

i barely ever post pictures of anything, but when i was in georgia this year i took a picture of a red roof inn marquee sign that had something unintentionally funny on it. so my year in review suggestion was this shitty red roof inn sign. it made me want to cry, unreasonably.
