Ah, yes, the great Montel Jordan.http://www.pr.com/upload/article_image_1137990345.jpg

Too bad his TV talk show is going off the air soon.

:-p

guess I'll say classic, I remember when it came out (think I was in middle school) and it still draws a good response...while out in Miami in 06 at a club, everyone went nuts when it came on, moreso than the other 90s-tunes that got played.

The Brainwasher, Sunday, 3 February 2008 15:46 (sixteen years ago) link

yea, his dipthongs were pretty typical of the time period, that's what I always liked about the song though.

"Get It On Tonite" is better... I might be the only one who thinks so anyway.

i always wanted to get montel to do like an anniversary remix single called "this was how we did it" which would have been an unquestionable smash hit.

this is probably my favorite song of all time

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 23 March 2010 19:40 (fourteen years ago) link

so on a scale of your choosing, how pumped would you be for an anniversary remix featuring special guests called "this was how we did it"

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 23 March 2010 19:43 (fourteen years ago) link

fairly pumped

apologies to billstevejim for not seeing this thread sooner cos i TOTALLY ADORE 'get it on tonite' and would have said so! except maybe the mix with ll on if i'm being picky.

i was even thinking of polling the save the last dance soundtrack a while ago as an excuse to rep it but it seemed like too much bullshit on there just for a 5-way battle that donell jones wouldn't have won.

Amazing facts about Montell Jordan taken from his wikipedia page:

The song also states his unusually tall height of 6'8"

Jordan graduated summa cum laude [from Pepperdine] and was a state finalist for the Rhodes Scholarship.

During his live performances he generally gives more of a rock-oriented performance, with Jordan even going as far as to wear sunglasses while on stage.]

classicest

Mo Money Mo Johnston (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 3 March 2012 10:18 (twelve years ago) link

five years pass...

I never realized until recently that this song is lyrically so open about the creator's intent to make cash and be a one hit wonder

Unchanging Window (Ross), Sunday, 25 June 2017 21:33 (six years ago) link

he had two hits! :)

("get it on tonite" was the other one and it's better)
