Technically not cancer but actually worse than most.
But I came here to say "OMG Uma Thurman".

oh yeah btw this is the song that "uma thurman" reminds me of [april march - "chick habit"]
...which is definitely intentional

huh? it's just quoting the munsters theme, right?

the sample is the munsters theme yeah but stylistically the call-and-answer horn parts remind me of "chick habit"

I was just listening to this bit (on my second listen-through) and thinking how sharply this record captures what has become perhaps Fall Out Boy's primary aesthetic preoccupation: the way they take bombast, typically a mode of delivery, and turn it into a concentrated property in itself. These songs feel simultaneously structured and destructured by bombast, or maybe I should reverse those verbs - more like, they added too much bombast to ordinary songs until they exploded, and then they pieced together new songs out of the shards.
Particularly telling how the broken delivery of the refrain here immediately gets repeated at the start of "Favorite Record".

Haha wasn't even a dig at buying vs. not buying - I'm only gonna listen when there's a proper iTunes or CDQ quality versh out there

I think FOB is generally very well produced, No Scik Mouthy, so I'd rather be a good lil' boy and wait

I like this pretty much exactly the same as Save Rock and Roll tbh - almost exactly the same number of hits + clunkers.

for some reason Stump singing "Uuuuuuma Thurman!" is just a step too far for me
"Novocaine" is probably my fave, awesomely weird chorus vocal line

i like everything i've heard off this album but i can't imagine anything displacing Cork Tree from my #2 ranking xp

idg cork tree stans, i don't care about at least half of that record
― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Sunday, 18 January 2015 03:32 (nine years ago) link
previous #2 was a tie between infinity and take this to your grave
― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Sunday, 18 January 2015 03:33 (nine years ago) link
Right now it feels to me like Folie > SRNR = AB/AP > Infinity >> Cork Tree
― Simon H., Sunday, 18 January 2015 03:43 (nine years ago) link
Cork Tree is definitely not all killer no filler, but it holds up imo. Infinity always felt like a missed opportunity to me.

this is def the best non-folie FOB album, brad otm
pretty much all of their records have either failed experiments (rat a tat) or egregious filler (l slept with FOB and all I got..., fame<infamy, etc), and this album just...doesn't. even something like immortals is just "not as good as everything else," rather than a throwaway or failure

maybe "the mighty fall" is a more agreed upon example of a failed experiment? not so much for the rap verse but for the fact that the rap verse is by big sean.
