Each month you’ll receive an album on vinyl delivered straight to your door — albums that aren’t just good, but essential for any record collection. The kind of album that will grow old with you. You’ll also receive a custom cocktail pairing (recipe) and an album-inspired piece of art from one of our favorite artists.

Some of the past "Record(s) of The Month" include Diarrhea Planet, Jaguerra, The War On Drugs, and R.L. Burnside.

Today I whiled away 10 minutes at Ely train station flicking through a number of publications each claiming to be "Britain's best-selling carp fishing magazine" so I'm particularly happy that the community of men holding fish have their own monthly box to subscribe to.

WHAT CUSTOMERS SAY ABOUT
MYSTERY COMIC SHOP
"Wow this is cool"
"Got these for my sons' birthday"
"Im a comic collector and I love this kind of stuff!"

Presumably an endless supply of the sort of pointless crap that fills so many "used" boxes in the backs of so many poorly-merchandised comic shops.

"I just got my first box and I was totally in love!"

"The best part is that it’s not ‘just a snack box’ or ‘just a beauty box’ but combines all aspects that would benefit a college student"

there was a site that would send dogshit to people you didn't like (or to yourself if you like dogshit)

this does make me wonder about a site that would send anonymous boxes to people you whom you do not dislike enough to send dogshit or bacon but do not like enough to send cartier watches

perhaps just empty boxes full of bubblewrap with small boxes inside containing bubblewrap

This one seems bizarre to me. Surely there's only so many pots and pans one needs - or do they send you a 24pc cutlery set, one stick at a time?

STEPHEN
FOUNDER

Stephen launched Pact as a way to combine his two biggest passions; coffee and entrepreneurship. His ambition in life is to make an espresso that impresses Rob Dunne.
Brew method: a La Pavoni to make passable flat white on weekends, and a cafetiere all week.

WILL
COFFEE

Will is passionate about coffee, his expertise is without question. He sources and orders our coffee, does the proper tasting and ropes our community in whenever he can. He’s also a barista champ and a lover of dad-jokes.
Brew method: He finds it hard to choose but his go-to on a Monday morning would be an Aeropress.

CUSTOMER CHAMPIONS
ANNA, BRENDAN, RUTH, CALLUM, SAM

Anyone who has ever called, emailed or tweeted Pact will have crossed paths with our marvellous community team. They cover everything customer services-related, as well as running our Welcome Waggon (we like to call up new customers to make sure everything is as good as it possibly can be). They are no nonsense, down to earth customer champions, so do get in touch if you need a hand with anything.
Brew method: V60 or Aeropress depending on which way the wind is blowing.

MATT
OPERATIONS MANAGER

Matt is right on the Pact front line. He manages our grinding and packing room, using 80s power ballads to whip our team of packers into a well-motivated frenzy and generally keeping everything in order.
Brew method: Stovetop, like a boss.

RICHARD
GROWTH

Richard finds new customers to introduce Pact, so if you would like to help us promote our tremendous coffees, he'd love to hear from you. Richard’s favourite mug has a mustache on it.
Brew method: V60 all the way

ED
PR

Ed liaises with various media moguls, crack reporters and coffee-loving bloggers to help share the story of Pact. If you'd like to write about Pact, pop him an email on e✧@pactcof✧✧✧.c✧✧, or alternatively take a look at our Press Room.
Brew method: Pre-Pact it was a cafetiere, now Ed's a V60 convert.

JUNTA
ONLINE MARKETING

Junta spreads the word via social media about what we do here at Pact. He also spends a lot of time rolling around in spreadsheets, wrestling with data.
Brew method: a cafetiere with a tea cosy to keep it warm.

TONY
TECHNOLOGY

At Pact, Tony bridges the gap between product and technology. Outside Pact, he does triathlons, marathons and stuff. He’s kind of a big deal and his apartment smells of rich mahogany.
Brew method: a Syphon, where every cup feels like the result of a school science experiment.

CHRISTIAAN
PRODUCT

Christiaan is passionate about making the Pact experience the best it can be, so he uses customer feedback to ensure we’re always improving. He particularly enjoys keeping the rest of the team on their toes and playing Quidditch.
Brew method: a v60 and some boy wizardry to create the perfect cup every time.

ANNELIESE
DESIGN

Anneliese’s main job here is making sure everything we do looks good. She’s a stylish and vivacious design type, who sprinkles her magic dust on everything from our website to our Chaff Creations. Ms Monroe is her hero.
Brew method: Cafetiere, though she’s in the market for something new...

JOSIE
COMMUNICATIONS

Most of the stuff we write about on our blog and website is put together by Josie. She’s also responsible for some of our sillier Pinterest boards and eating 20% of London’s pesto.
Brew method: French press, beret optional but preferred.

They should break up those "box-opening" youtube videos so that the first half is watching the person open the box and look at things for the first time, and the second half is a day or two later.

♛ LIL UNIT ♛ (thomp), Monday, 9 February 2015 01:17 (nine years ago) link

things i have been guilty of, from least to most justifiable:

joggbox (energy gels and protein-addled flapjacks and shit; i don't even know why i did this)
hellofresh (does your groceries for you. boring-ass bland food; new starter offer only)
graze ('healthy' snack boxes. deeply addictive; multiple new starter offers by changing the position of the dot in my gmail account)
beer52 (unremarkable collection of 'craft' beers plus some actually nice seeming spirits, maybe; terrible customer service; just got a second box because the 'unsubscribe' link is broken)
envelope (total rip off of below by founders of above; they keep offering me free/reduced shit though so ???)
pact (better than any coffee i have bought in person for a comparable price. really annoying post-innocent smoothie aesthetic though yes; still use this, on occasion)

♛ LIL UNIT ♛ (thomp), Monday, 9 February 2015 01:24 (nine years ago) link

the weeaboo box seems like the saddest one, i think

qualx, Monday, 9 February 2015 02:17 (nine years ago) link

I liked the idea of buying someone/being bought a cocktail-of-the-month kit for Christmas until I realised that each month's delivery of 2 miniatures and a tiny bottle of mixer or bitters cost as much as buying a full-sized bottle of semi-decent brand name spirits every month

most of these pics look pretty terrible but I do still kind of like the concept, remembering that joy as a kid of getting post and not knowing what it was or being excited about receiving some plastic crap that cost 6 cereal packets and £1.95 p&p. but I'm not sure that joy actually exists as an adult - at least not for more than two months in a row, or when not subsidised by your parents' cereal expenditure

undergraduate dance (a passing spacecadet), Monday, 9 February 2015 11:29 (nine years ago) link

We use Pact and also Has Bean for regular coffee, it's worth it to have reliably excellent coffee without having to remember to pick it up. Overall, I've liked the Has Bean coffee more than I have the Pact; what Pact has which I think is really good is the easy ability to put your subscription on pause if you want.

Buying a subscription to this lot: http://cocoarunners.com/ (fancy chocolate) was one of the most successful birthday gifts I've ever given my wife, with the advantage that it's another little birthday gift once a month. Plus it's cut down my overall chocolate consumption because it makes me less inclined to grab a Double Decker or whatever when I'm out and about.
