Yeah this is somewhat silly. And it's nice to have a snow day and all but I have a toddler so I have to figure out how to entertain her.

I'll stop mindlessly posting second avenue sagas links after this one, but the wnyc excerpt here does a good job of explaining how the mta has existing plans in place that are designed to keep the subways running in large blizzards, which were being prepared for implementation before cuomo's decision.

"smoke condition" at Lex/59th this morning too. Really whole commute was pandemonium, E train seemingly not running or running very infrequently, took the R, got stuck at my station, then got stuck in the tunnel. People pushing, yelling, some lady who obviously couldn't fit on the train wailing like she was trying to catch the last shuttle off earth before nuclear Armageddon.

some eejit pretty much ran right through me on the stairs at Canal St too. If I'd had an extra 3 seconds I'd have thrown my bag at her head.

reminds me of the time I saw a dude standing facing the inside of the subway door on the E train and just hocking loogies onto the door, one after another, for like ten minutes

There were not one but two dudes smoking their own joints in the rear car of the 6 train I was on this morning. The other passengers were nonplussed which was weird.

a banner week for the L train. Today was the second morning this week I had to give up and take the G to Court Square to the manhattan E to get to work in Chelsea because of an 'investigation' or a signal malfunction.

I might just have to make the G to the E my regular (there's also the M to 23rd but that's starting to get almost too crowded to ride by the time it gets to Marcy).
