good win by nd, they look p solid

That was so much fun. I really love Jerian Grant. He is so confident this year. And I'm always happy to see Jackson do well since we went to the same high school, where he played ball with my cousin.

It's strange to me too. But we're talking about praxis, man. (Sufjan Grafton), Thursday, 29 January 2015 03:04 (nine years ago) link

also good to see the pavilion get rowdy since it was a bit quiet when I was there during the students' winter break.

starting to feel like this 'beating duke' high will never end. it's dangerous because I didn't actually do anything productive or good in my own life.

naturally notre dame drops its next game

duke's final 15 offensive possessions against virginia: 14 baskets, 34 points

mookieproof, Sunday, 1 February 2015 04:05 (nine years ago) link

Gotta love college bball. Pitt hit their free throws where duke did not.

oh man. giving up the NIT. how noble.

is it just because i'm out of college and uconn is mediocre or is college basketball less popular now than it's ever been?

sae nnwurd - throw sum mo ka (k3vin k.), Thursday, 5 February 2015 02:28 (nine years ago) link

partly you, partly the conference reshuffling i'll guess

mookieproof, Thursday, 5 February 2015 02:34 (nine years ago) link

obviously by "ever been" you mean "your lifetime". It has slipped a bit compared to the last 5 years. But I don't think it's less popular than it was more than 5 years ago.

the 30 for 30 about the Big East is very good, and I'd imagine the end of the true Big East is indicative of something. I guess that's probably just that college football has grown at a larger clip than college basketball.

March Madness is still my favorite sport event of the year

It's strange to me too. But we're talking about praxis, man. (Sufjan Grafton), Thursday, 5 February 2015 02:39 (nine years ago) link

College hoops is the pits now! Can't stomach a full game. Can only watch like the last 5 minutes of a game anymore and even then I need it recorded to ffwd the inevitable foul/ft fest. March madness is still amazing especially the first weekend cos you can jump from close game to close game and you don't have to watch full stretches.

The shot clock is ridiculous.

Steph def def (Spottie), Thursday, 5 February 2015 03:05 (nine years ago) link

shot clock will be reduced next year

What's the proposed time?

Steph def def (Spottie), Thursday, 5 February 2015 04:26 (nine years ago) link

30, I think

Hm maybe that'll help but still only halfway there. Best thing about college hoops to me is that a full court press actually often works.

i'm by no means an nba stan, but i'm not sure that watching top-10 college teams struggle to get into the 50s is ideal

mookieproof, Tuesday, 3 March 2015 00:33 (nine years ago) link

shorten the shot clock? maybe lengthen the shot clock and have every team run 'cuse zone. 50 shades of grey crossover market.

there's a jim boeheim looking dude at my gym that's always yelling at the employees and doing curls while looking at himself in the mirror. can't stand this dude.

mookieproof, Tuesday, 3 March 2015 00:48 (nine years ago) link

it is understandably difficult to picture. perhaps I can grab a picture next time.

weird season for uconn, theyve def improved but i think their dfense is not good enough to run 3/4 games in this acc tourney…v tough loss 2 memphis where backup dude named BURRELL has the game of his life, and uconn shot terribly; i think we'd get the 5 seed if mem loses vs cincy & if we can win @ temple

johnny crunch, Saturday, 7 March 2015 02:37 (nine years ago) link

acc tourney

bite yr tongue

mookieproof, Saturday, 7 March 2015 02:41 (nine years ago) link

then the path is friday afternoon beat temple (only loss this season in hfd was to temple v end of ot down 2pts, hamilton was fouled shooting a 3 and missed all 3 shots) > sat morning in hartford there is a st patties day parade, whole city get trashed and then afternoon game vs. prob smu is rowdy & packed & they win > then sunday afternoon state is too hungover to show up & support them and they go out to a 30 pt effort by houston's Jherrod Stiggers :|

johnny crunch, Saturday, 7 March 2015 02:47 (nine years ago) link

Amazing due to its enormous improbability. Whatever drove Tiger's run to greatness, it seems totally broken and scattered to the winds now. He's a lost soul.

Giant Purple Wakerobin (Aimless), Tuesday, 7 April 2015 18:43 (nine years ago) link

I mostly agree with Joe Posnanski's theory on the matter, which is....he turned 35. not a lot of golfers having consistent success after that age. The fall from "he will definitely break Jack Nicklaus's record" to "he will probably never win another major again" is pretty crazy though
