although this is the worst sport in the world and I would rather pretend it didn't exist, I am glad that England did not win, because the sport would doubtless intrude from the periphery a little more

Can't believe that everyday I happily read ilx without logging in, and everyday I then read a rap thread and have to take 30 seconds to set cookies to 'accept', log in, and FP the same stupid motherfucker.

wd like to do a thread looking at the tropes used and some of the "emotional" expectations expressed on all these polls but tbh it'd probly look a lot like mean-spirited meta so i'll just leave it and express a kind of wry bemusement coupled with enjoyment that humans are very very different to each other over in the second thought thread instead

on facebook, not ilx

"When Bill Clinton was president he passed something called the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Act, bragging at the time that it would "end welfare as we have come to know it." In Hillary Clinton's 2003 book, "Living History" she boasted that she and Bill had caused welfare rolls to "drop 60 percent" but poverty didn't decrease during this time. This bill, like every conservative austerity measure, mostly hurt women and children.

Recently Hillary Clinton gave a glowing review to Henry Kissinger's book. She mentions that he is a "friend" and that she "relies on his counsel." Kissinger spearheaded the United States' undermining of Chile's democratic government in 1970. He encouraged the CIA to promote a coup, which put the dictator Augusto Pinochet in power. This is just one of the awful things he did. It's hard to find anything positive about his legacy.

Every national politician is compromised. I like Obama, but I could point to a bunch of awful things he was complicit in. It's fine to vote for Hillary Clinton as an alternative to whoever the awful right wing candidate is going to be, but I think it's a mistake to pretend that she or her husband have ever been progressives. Bill Clinton was basically a conservative."

are you feeling guilt or shame about missing that window?

if we spray painted 'SHAME' onto the grass at one end of the National Mall and 'GUILT' onto the grass at the other end, where exactly in between the two ends would you land your gyrocopter?

keep hearing 'shame' to the tune of "a change will do you good" by sheryl crow
