The whole thing looks like a weird hoax, just the fact that no physical copy has ever been seen is a bit suspect. It looks like exactly what would happen if you could somehow send a really terrible flash game back in time and put it onto a SNES cartridge in 1997.

Very 1997 shareware IMO, much more than SNES, especially the look of the digitized still images.

wow lol. at least the easy fatality tokens are earnable for free in-game, but c'mon there's enough shameless cashgrabbing with the season pass and all that junk ($30!)

speaking of game design for people who don't actually like to play games, i'm kind of surprised mortal kombat x didn't go the heavy rain route, where you initiate the fatality, then it's like "Press X!" and it freezes the torso, "hold L+R!!!" to wind-up your punch, and "TAP TRIANGLE!!!!" to shatter the frozen body in half or whatever.

they did that in the single player mode for Injustice, so it'll probably show up in MK's story mode as well. it's too much of a flow-breaker in a multiplayer game, I think

OTOH fatalities always had a tenuous relationship to 'gaming' even while being wildly popular. You either know the button sequence or not, and they don't affect outcomes. As it's not 1993 anymore, it's not like they can even be secret lore, Adding training wheels for them just lays this bare, no?

the whole "paying for cheat codes" thing is still kinda indefensible, especially where where you are literally saving seconds of gameplay time
