"Object conjuring is a kind of cave diving expedition into hidden worlds of sound - there are sounds that aren't *supposed* to be there, that the manufacturers didn't intend and yet you just strike the object with a stick and you can extrapolate endless sonic possiblities."

I so posted that shit on a roffles thread months ago
I'm happy for those geeks but let's be honest...they're taking themselves too seriously. Props to Twig though

x-post

Look at the one on the bottom right; he's screaming "let me go!"

I don't think I'd want to sit through a feature length doc about it, but it's a great 5 minute clip! Maybe it would make a good 1/2 hr doc if they stretched a couple of interviews out a bit. I lolled at the comments along the lines of "this is not representative of tr00 circuit bending", when one of the featured oddballs is reed ghazala! Mainly I liked it b/c it made it look like a lot of fun! (though I'm way too anal & fussy to pull any of my instruments to pieces to try it out) and because it has Cynthia on it, who I've bought stuff off, and who I like loads.

i was just coming here to post hawking in space, knowing someone on the east coast had probably beaten me to it.

Great interview with Trick Daddy.

Haha, my wife was telling me about that over Indian food last night and I thought she was making it up or getting something wrong (she usually does).

- watched srsly awesome and most true-to-its-name video at the library called "the miracle of life" (nova, 1983, featuring photography by lennart nilsson, who is famous for inside the human body photography techniques c. 70s - had seen bits on pbs etc before but never the full 55 min) - it's abt the reproductive systems (m & f) and growth of baby, obv - features awesome synth music score of high drama and all kinds of great high-contrast colour footage of inside passages. also, i watched it on this old tech!

I used to do editing for ad agency and had to deal with hundreds of these bastard things.

admrl, Monday, 30 April 2007 22:59 (seventeen years ago) link

okay the thing about lightning bolt energy drink is not only is it called lightning bolt but it has lightning bolts on it in an aluminum sky of blackness and it is steven segal's lightning bolt and it has an artist's rendering of him and also his signature and a quote i am sure he said. it is blowing my mind a bit.

xpost

Ad agencies! Umatics are still the preferred format for the advertising/postproduction industry.
