Well, j/k, obviously, but, like, do people think Elvis and Sinatra wrote all their own songs? They can't be that dumb, right?

Similarly, the other day, someone I know was looking for recommendations for music to "explain to her kids what music was like before songs on the radio were only 3 minutes long, like Journey and Styx and so forth." So, like, never? Because the 2-3 minute single has always been more or less standard?

Yeah, if anything the 3:30 average single length is up from previous decades. Especially pre-70s, when most singles were running under 3 minutes.
