Zeppelin and Sabbath rock and I believe both were influentual in the development of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. My faves are 'Graffiti' by Zep and I love 'Born Again' by Sabbath...must have been too many brews in the early 80's for REB I guess.

But for the person who said 'Zeppelin=Overrated' and then trotted out Creedence FFS! Sheesh!! And to hear Plant getting sledged for his vocals and then having some numbnuts raving on about the monumentally mediocre Cure PURLEASE..

The best point in this entire thread is that Zeppelin's music has stood the test of time and that what passes for rock these days will be forgotten this time next year.

As stupid as not inducting Kraftwerk. Sorry but all your beloved arena rock did NOT change the landscape of music history, they were just popular and you love them. The Smiths brought literature back into music, elevated the importance of lyrical content, spawned many sound alike bands for the remainder of the 80s, are the band that solidified what Brit Pop is and influenced all those bands throughout the 90s. Morrissey is pretty much the greatest lyricist of our time, if you put the time in to pay attention rather than snub them as depressing to avoid any effort. This band is still massively relevant where bands like (because I see them in the next comment) Deep Purple and Cheap Trick have ZERO influence, didn't change rock at all and were just more of the same. Take them out of history and nothing changes. Take the Smiths or Kraftwerk out of history and the change is dramatic. RRHOF needs to put down their knee jerk (focus on jerk) reaction to fawn all over anything stemming from 70s arena rock. It is NOT THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE. Nor are those bands relevant in a historical setting. The whole museum is run on popularity as if that makes an act relevant. Sales do not equal historical relevance. Sales are merely the now.

Bowie employs some experimental wordsmithing in his songs. One of the methods I know of is where he writes (or copies) verse and then cuts it apart, into pieces of paper with words/phrases on them. Then he mixes them all up an reassembles them randomly, filling in here & there to make segues. I don't think he transfers that directly to a lyric sheet, but he uses it to spark further inspiration (I guess via juxtoposition of words that had no prior relationship.) So the end product may not mean much to you, but it means something to him. And lyrically - sometimes it works and sometimes not as much.

Let it not be said that I don't appreciate abstract film in general, nor that I don't appreciate Brakhage's films specifically. A cursory glace at my list of favorite films will quickly dispel such notions. However, I have to be blunt about this: Dog Star man is mind-numbingly boring! It takes far, far too long and reveals only material that is either sub-par or plain ugly. It is both his most ambitious film and his least accomplished one. That smells like pretentiousness.

This is ultra-weird pretentious crap. Some would have you believe that in fact it's so bad that by some exotic philosophical logic it becomes really good again. Don't believe the rumors though: crap = crap. Some might even argue that it's a self-parody and that therefore it's actually a success. Don't believe that either: Plan 9 wouldn't all of a sudden become a good film if it were revealed that it was in fact a self-parody: to be sure, such a revelation might up the score a little bit but it could never score a sufficient mark, because the film is just intrinsically bad, no matter what the intentions of it's makers were.

Kirsten Dunst clearly now thinking she can bare her breasts in a Von Trier film because of course its 'tastefully done' - Im sorry but if I put some Mozart over a porno I could make the same case. The only thing that makes people think this type of nudity in film is any different is because its 'artsy' but the truth is its just long, montages of scenery & imagery with classical music complementing it and replacing what might have made a decent screenplay.

The movie I reviewed is overrated garbage. I wanted a Batman film, not the corny or realistic dull filler types. A Batman film that represents the character, the adventure from comics or a new one, and the fictional legend. It must be grim, dark, brutal, brooding, serious (not like TDK which is still better than TDKR), amazing, stylized not dull, action packed while not UFC-based like in TDKR, mysterious like Batman stories SHOUL BE, and fun. Fun, not boring.
