discovered this a bit too late to matter but X-Force Deadpool's black ability is v nice vs Big G

Hulk's passive works too.

aaaaablnnn (abanana), Sunday, 18 October 2015 10:27 (eight years ago) link

Aside from Classic Mags/XFW/Loki, I've cottoned onto OBW/MagNow/Hood: collect Mag's purple to feed OBW's blue, and when you get enough red, hit G with it. Nice double whammy is if I get enough of Hood's black, Mag's red is an immediate 3K of damage plus tile destruction.

gave a mighty chortle when I realized on top of the game's $14.99 price you need to buy DLC access ($3.99 each) to The Hulk and Deadpool "storylines"

OTOH, I wonder if this game is better or worse without the F2P aspects

so wait a second, they're just giving out 3-stars in the PS version's tutorial? And all the roster spaces are automatically open?

... can I transfer my roster from phone to PS3/4 and back?

I Am Curious (Dolezal) (DJP), Monday, 19 October 2015 14:17 (eight years ago) link

no pass through for ios or pc or mac to console of course.
in some ways that kind of underlined the weird futility of the game and sent me off playing it.
i'll almost certainly be back in about seven months, lagging even further behind the power players than i already was.

I have 100K ISO and now the following cover-maxed 3*s -- whom should I level next?

Black Panther 5/5/3
Loki 5/3/5
Hood 5/5/3
Spidey 5/3/5
Mohawk 5/3/5
lolRags 5/5/3
Captain Marvel 4/4/5
Deadpool 3/5/5

:wq (Leee), Wednesday, 21 October 2015 17:11 (eight years ago) link

my priority list would be:

Loki
Black Panther
Hood
Spidey
Deadpool
Mohawk
Captain Marvel
set your roster on fire
Rags

I Am Curious (Dolezal) (DJP), Wednesday, 21 October 2015 17:21 (eight years ago) link

i have hood and panther heavy in my rotation, fwiw, but i only have a few maxed 3s

xpost yeah loki makes sense too

nerd shit (Will M.), Wednesday, 21 October 2015 17:24 (eight years ago) link

Classic Mags + Loki = cascade heaven, pair with yr favorite damage dealer to accelerate but you can get to a point where a Mags cascade feeds Loki enough ISO for him to trigger his cascade, which can give enough ISO to trigger a Mags cascade, rinse and repeat

Add in a strike tile generator like Patch or IF and a good board can let you get out with maybe 200-500 dmg on each of your characters

I Am Curious (Dolezal) (DJP), Wednesday, 21 October 2015 17:28 (eight years ago) link

what's the best loki build for that? and cmags for that matter? i imagine it's cmags at 3/5/5, which i have and 166d too, but i am not thinking about how i can get my loki into this gonzo cascade party now.

i guess what i'm saying is teach me how to loki

nerd shit (Will M.), Wednesday, 21 October 2015 17:33 (eight years ago) link

my loki is at 5/3/2 now and i am guessing i want him at 3/5/5... bleh

nerd shit (Will M.), Wednesday, 21 October 2015 17:34 (eight years ago) link

oh wow, i completely lied about my cmags. he's only level 140 and he's 4/3/5. i think i just imagined my dream cmags and pretended i had him

nerd shit (Will M.), Wednesday, 21 October 2015 17:36 (eight years ago) link

Loki/Patch/C.Mags a classic combo. But if you don't have good chars to team him with Loki is kind of useless, and he will always be killed first
Deadpool's Purple ability is great, if you have that maxed go for it.
Spidey and Hood (w/AP Steal) are solid utility players at high level. Mohawk Storm probably is too but mine isn't too high
Skeptical on BP and Rags. Who goes well with Panther, besides obviously Iron Fist?

Nhex, Wednesday, 21 October 2015 17:55 (eight years ago) link

because i am a brute when i play this game, i have often found myself rolling patch/panther/fatcap. basically every color hurts them.

red: does lots of damage every 3 turns and erases enemy tiles
green: does lots of damage and sets up more damage down the line
yellow: does lots of damage with match-5s
black: does lots of damage to everyone
blue: stuns every 3 turns and erases enemy tiles
purple: jesus god no

nerd shit (Will M.), Wednesday, 21 October 2015 17:59 (eight years ago) link

are you guys 5-5-3 for falcon or 5-4-4?

polyphonic, Wednesday, 21 October 2015 18:11 (eight years ago) link

5-5-3 Falcon, 3-5-5 Loki

I never really thought about BP/Loki/Steve but that's a hilariously powerful combo; I've been alternating between Loki/CMags/underpowered Patch (4-4-5 lvl 142) and 4-4-5 IF/153 Luke Cage (5-2-5)/Falcon

I Am Curious (Dolezal) (DJP), Wednesday, 21 October 2015 19:37 (eight years ago) link

I'm for 5/3/5 Loki because Patch is still one of my most used and the idea of cleaning up all of the enemy's purple strike tiles is awesome -- I don't use Loki much at all, and even more rarely for his tile rearranging power.

Falcon is 5/5/3 for me as well, though. Defense kind of doesn't matter in MPQ.

:wq (Leee), Wednesday, 21 October 2015 20:40 (eight years ago) link

The thing about the cascadepalooza strategy is that 75% of the time hitting Illusion will match away most if not all of your enemy's strike tiles and, if it doesn't, you've likely pulled enough purple to Illusion again to try to mop up the remainder. (You've also likely pulled in enough red and/or blue to trigger one of CMags' cascades to do some mopup as well.) You can then use Trickery to hit any of the leftover strike tiles and now most of the enemy team's abilities aside from giant dmg bombs don't hurt you.

It's not uncommon for the cascades to allow me to fire off abilities something like 7-8 times in a row. I decided to start playing this after the computer kept murdering me with Loki/CMags combos if I couldn't kill Loki quickly enough.

My flipside strategy is the escalating damage party featuring IF, Luke Cage and Falcon, where I basically get as many yellow matches as I can to make Luke's protect tile massively silly (I think I once got it up to 2.5K) and IF's attack and strike tiles equally silly (I think my best attack dmg per round was around 3K). Falcon's blue eats enemy special tiles, Luke's yellow is a massive nuke that usually 1-shots the most dangerous enemy or knocks him/her down enough for IF's attack tile to finish the job, and once you have enough black IF's purple is stupidly overpowered, especially if you have buffed strike tiles out.

I Am Curious (Dolezal) (DJP), Thursday, 22 October 2015 13:50 (eight years ago) link

I'm using IF, Cage, Falc in survival modes now -- it's faster than Blade, Cap, Falc.

aaaaablnnn (abanana), Thursday, 22 October 2015 14:37 (eight years ago) link

Leee why sit on all that iso so long? I use it as soon as I can. of your list, I'd level in this order:

Loki 5/3/5
Hood 5/5/3
Deadpool 3/5/5
Black Panther 5/5/3 (wrong build: need 3-5-5 for him to be super)
--- here's a division between great and merely good ---
Captain Marvel 4/4/5
Mohawk 5/3/5
--- here's a division between good and middling ---
Spidey 5/3/5
lolRags 5/5/3

droit au butt (Euler), Thursday, 22 October 2015 14:56 (eight years ago) link

and really deadpool at 5-5-3 is what I was thinking, prolly swap him & BP in those builds

right now I am just leveling all my 4 stars to cap, which is pretty easy for the ones I have left. I'm aiming at 1000 in all pvps where I need the 4 star cover, but 1300 is too much for me.

I took my lady thor to 229 last week (5-3-3) and she's been fun buffed! can't wait to have 5-3-5 so the stun is better. her yellow is stupid though.

yesterday I beat the super blade board with my l~130 electra (4-2-1 I think?), took me four or five tries, eventually just jamming...purple? the one that steals enemy strike tiles and buffs them, that did it pretty fast, even at my crappy level.

droit au butt (Euler), Thursday, 22 October 2015 15:00 (eight years ago) link

I know ppl are down on Spidey now but honestly his ability to slow down enemy dmg via protect tiles and stuns can allow you to control the entire match with bigger dmg ppl, plus if something goes wrong you can fall back on his heal to give you an extra turn or two to pull things back together; also, you can usually permastun the other team once they're down to two members.

I Am Curious (Dolezal) (DJP), Thursday, 22 October 2015 15:01 (eight years ago) link

maybe in pve that works but it's too slow for pvp above 600 pts or so. when I see a spidey team come up in pvp I'm drooling like Venom

droit au butt (Euler), Thursday, 22 October 2015 15:09 (eight years ago) link

feel like i've stalled a bit.

6 2* near 94 but the covers i need to build my 3* team are few and far between. getting knocked out of top 100 by legit squads in PvP, stories rarely offer what i need, and Deadpool wave 4 is usually still too much for dat 3* cover.

is this a known plateau?

resulting post (rogermexico.), Thursday, 22 October 2015 18:19 (eight years ago) link

ftr I would never leave Spidey on defense because the AI doesn't know how to play him; similar problem with GSBW actually.

I Am Curious (Dolezal) (DJP), Thursday, 22 October 2015 18:22 (eight years ago) link

yup. but they go really well together on offense, since you can use Spidey to stall while building up purple/green for GSBW

Nhex, Thursday, 22 October 2015 18:26 (eight years ago) link

Leee why sit on all that iso so long?

I have my preferred posse of characters and don't feel the need to sink ISO in others (e.g. Marvel, Mohawk), at least not till I can take them above level 100, but then sometimes I forget about them.

And yeah, I have Deadpool and Panther built that way because those have been the covers I pulled -- for the longest time I only had 1 black BP cover.

Deadpool wave 4 is usually still too much for dat 3* cover

Some 2* team compositions involve OBW, Thor, Storm, MagNow, possibly Daken. And make sure to stockpile AP during the goon waves.

:wq (Leee), Thursday, 22 October 2015 19:06 (eight years ago) link

Ideally you should be able to take out the 2nd and 4th waves without them getting an attack off, or very few attacks.
C.Storm seems good, since you can stockpile her blue for stuns, or OBW for delaying the trash waves to hoard AP.
