ok yea it's actually been on my local pirate radio that does a lot of rap/dancehall/rnb and somewhat less commercial stuff (though like hotline bling is still played every hour), it's not boston's hot 97 for instance though, i haven't heard it on boston's more commercial urban stations
― marcos, Thursday, 5 November 2015 18:46 (eight years ago) link
it sounds better in a rap radio context than i expected it to tbh, it wouldn't have shocked me if it did happen to take off
― some dude, Thursday, 5 November 2015 19:02 (eight years ago) link
well 102.7 jamz in north carolina was playing it & they break a lot of records these days
so its possible
i do agree that in certain contexts it works

Jamie xx is a little corny imo and that feels very apparent when I hear good times despite popcaan's and yt's parts , overall though I dig the song
― marcos, Sunday, 8 November 2015 01:11 (eight years ago) link
love thugs verse on good times but at some point towards the end of the song various parts of it start looping around unnaturally and it all suddenly strikes me as terribly corny and british
― tpp, Sunday, 8 November 2015 18:08 (eight years ago) link
still haven't heard slime 2 but i spent the week listening to slime 1 and i update my ordering
barter 6 > slime season
barter 6 is underwhelming at first (first and last song aside) but i think the flows and hooks on that album are really genius if you can get accustomed to the more subdued vibe of the music overall
― flopson, Sunday, 8 November 2015 23:46 (eight years ago) link
i really really like the last song on slime season 1

WELP metro boomin went on a twitter rant about how rappers are dropping constant mixtapes to try and be like future and young thug took it personally, so this thread is now a bit more relevant
― Viva la Wu Tang or Meth and All His Friends (some dude), Tuesday, 10 November 2015 12:29 (eight years ago) link
wait neither of them are anything like the first rappers to release a constant stream of material
― lex pretend, Tuesday, 10 November 2015 12:32 (eight years ago) link
yeah it's kind of a specious argument to begin with. metro boomin was all "I KNOW about wayne and gucci you guys, but this is different" but it still didn't really come off well. even before YT said anything, my reaction was 'either he's talking about ATL no-names i haven't heard of, or he's talking about young thug, which is weird because they work together.'

this is ... not a very good post
― marcos, Tuesday, 10 November 2015 16:36 (eight years ago) link
i mean ok atlanta rappers who are critically esteemed, sure i guess?
― marcos, Tuesday, 10 November 2015 16:41 (eight years ago) link
what's wrong with the post?
― Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Tuesday, 10 November 2015 17:23 (eight years ago) link
one is more straightlaced, one more eccentric, one more regular-dude, the other dresses very colorfully and is generally considered the better rapper although it's easy to underrate the other, both from atlanta, i mean it's not a reach exactly

Future has had the better year, no doubt in my mind. Codeine Crazy, Monster, Hardly, Commas, Drought, Stick Talk, Rotation, Blow a Bag, Real Sisters, Blood on the Money, March Madness, Trap, Never Gon Lose, 56 nights, Jersey, etc etc

are they? i think Metro Thuggin was just anticipated because "The Blanguage" was awesome and there was a year where that was the big Young Thug project perpetually on the horizon, and it's a bummer that these 2 guys that at one point were making an album together had some kind of falling out. Metro and Future seems like a more fertile combination overall but there's really no reason these guys can't all work together.
― Viva la Wu Tang or Meth and All His Friends (some dude), Wednesday, 11 November 2015 05:14 (eight years ago) link
So are we buying this 12 hours later "I wasn't talking about Thug, that would be corny" talk or not?
― human and working on getting beer (longneck), Wednesday, 11 November 2015 13:10 (eight years ago) link
"You gotta be crazy if you think I subtweeted Thug. That's corny." wellllll if Thug thought you subtweeted him then you're saying if I didn't insult you before I'm insulting you now. not a great attempt at peacekeeping tbh!
― Viva la Wu Tang or Meth and All His Friends (some dude), Wednesday, 11 November 2015 13:23 (eight years ago) link
Right. London on da track had a tweet along the lines of either Metro is stupid or he's lying and only stupidity is forgivable.
